In nature, you may see many insects and animals of different colors. Do you want to know why
Locusts (蝗虫) are very delicious food for birds, but it is not always an easy job for birds to catch them.
That is not because locusts are good jumpers or runners. Is that because they are smarter than their enemies (天敌)
The answer is “no”. The reason is that the colors of locusts change with the colors of crops. When crops are young,
locusts look green. But when autumn comes, locusts change to the yellow and brown color as crops do.
Brown bears, tigers and other animals move quietly through forests. Their enemies can’t see them easily.
This is because they have colors similar to the trees. For the same reason, polar bears that live on a land of snow
and ice are white. Butterflies and bees living among the flowers are colorful like flowers. Soil insects are mostly
dark-colored and they live under the dark and wet soil. However, insects with colors different from plants can
easily be found and eaten by others. So in order to survive, they have to hide themselves in the daytime and come
out only at night.
Have you ever noticed some even stranger acts The ink fish in the sea can send out some very black ink
when it faces danger. As the ink spreads over (喷洒), its enemies find themselves suddenly in a dark world. At the
same time, the ink fish swims away at once. That is how it keeps itself safe though it is not strong at all.

七、任务型阅读(共 5小题;每小题 1分,满分 5分)
初二英语 第 7 页 共 8 页
阅读短文,根据短文内容用完整的句子回答下列问题,
Joking can be a cheerful thing. However, sometimes people may see it differently. Some people may get
hurt if there are too many jokes. When you show you can’t accept the jokes, the jokes might get worse.
We should consider the relationships when joking. Close friends usually enjoy teasing (开玩笑). Healthy
teasing can usually make people relaxed. When both sides know it’s just joking, they can understand each other
better. The environment is also important for close relationships. It doesn’t matter when your sister calls your
nickname (绰号) at home. However, it’s quite bad when a classmate shouts it out at school.
When making a joke, we often see the funny side of it. But others may see it in a different way. Sometimes
we forget the other person may not find it funny. People have different life experiences, so they understand jokes
differently. For example, imagine someone not swimming at a pool party. Others might tease him or her about
being unable to swim. But maybe that person is just afraid of water. Keep in mind that people may have their own
reasons for not seeing the funny side.
It’s a good way to build good friendships by respecting others. In daily life, we should pay attention to our
words when playing jokes.
76.What may happen if there are too many jokes
