①In the coastal (沿海的) city of Laguna in Brazil, there is a special fishing team. It is made up of fishermen and dolphins. They work together to catch fish.
②Mauricio Cantor from Oregon State University the US, studied this partnership (合作关系). As he told Science News Explores, this started more than a century ago.
③“The dolphins are really good at finding fish in the murky water and driving them to the coast,” Cantor said. “The fishermen are really good at catching the fish with their nets.” Once the fish are caught in the nets, dolphins can move in and get some for themselves.
④Cantor’s study described how fishermen and dolphins give cues (暗示) to each other during fishing. When dolphins find fish, they drive them to the coast. Then they arch (弓着) their backs in front of the fishermen to tell them to throw nets. Fishermen will then throw the nets right away, or they may lose the best chance. “Fishermen need to be well-trained to understand the cues from dolphins,” said Cantor.
⑤The study found that fishermen are 17 times more likely to catch fish by working with dolphins. At the same time, the helpful dolphins have a 13 percent higher survival rate (存活率) than other dolphins.
⑥Human-animal partnerships have been hard to see in history. But they give us an idea of how positive our human interactions (互动) can be with nature.

C. might bring about a win-win situation D. could be in danger and end soon
7. What would be the best title for the passage
A. Train Hard to Win B. Team Up to Fish
C. Get Close to Nature D. Say Thanks to Animals

“Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person ” It is a popular question among young people around China today. Many people are crazy about it, so they take a personality test named the MBTI test to find out the answer.
Many people find the MBTI is useful. It groups people into 16 kinds, which start with the letter “I” or “E”, such as “ENTJ, INFP” or more. “E” is short for “Extroversion (外向性)” while “I” is for “Introversion (内向性)”. “I’m an ‘E’ person. I should go to the party and make more friends.” “I’m an ‘I’ person. I’d like to work by myself. I could be a writer in the future.” They believe the MBTI result can help them make decisions for activities, jobs or even life choices more quickly.
But there are also problems. Some people take the test for a second time and get different results. Some people find it hard to answer some questions. “I like watching TV by myself. But I also enjoy playing with friends. Am I an ‘I’ or an ‘E’ ”
When you take a personality test, you may think, “Oh, that’s me.” That’s because the descriptions (描述) are generic. They can be used to describe many people. Research has found that over 50% of people get a different result when they do the MBTI again just five weeks later. Personalities can change with time, scientists say. You can be an “I” now, but you may become an “E” when you get older. Studies have also shown that the test is not really good at telling people’s success in different jobs. So, don’t take it too seriously.
8. What is the MBTI test about
A. Personality. B. Health. C. Hobbies. D. Future jobs.
9. How might an “I” person feel about a big and noisy party according to the test
A. He/She would feel excited and talk to everyone.
B. He/She would prefer to stay alone or with a few close friends.
C. He/She would like to play games with others at the party.
D. He/She would feel it’s the best place to make new friends.
10. What does the underlined word “generic” mean in Chinese
A. 通用的 B. 特别的 C. 清楚的 D. 科学的
11 Why do some people get different results when they do the MBTI test again
A. Because the test questions are too difficult.
B. Because their personalities can change over time.
C. Because they don’t understand the questions.
D. Because the test is only for young people.
D
Why is the sea salty Long before we discovered scientific ways of thinking about it, we explained it in a story. Even though the answer isn’t scientific, it holds some other truth in it—especially about the human heart.
Long ago, a poor old couple lived on the coast. One day, an old storyteller came to their village. The old couple gave him a meal. In return, he gave them a coffee mill (磨粉机) and said, “Say ‘Mill, please grind (磨粉)’, and it’ll make whatever you want. To stop it, say ‘Mill, please stop grinding’.”
Soon the old couple had a much better life. They became happy people, and they didn’t need much more. But the young couple next door were never satisfied (满足的). When they saw the old couple wearing good clothes and buying good food, they burnt with envy (羡慕). So one day, the young husband went to the old couple’s house secretly and said, “Mill, please grind hot chocolate!” He was surprised to see it coming out.
Then the young couple stole (偷) the mill from the old couple. With it, they rode a horse and set off down the coast, where no one would know them. Along the way, the husband showed it proudly and asked, “What do you want it to make ” “Oh, I don’t know. Why not salt ” the wife said. “Mill, please grind salt!” he said. “It works!” the wife shouted. But then they noticed the salt went everywhere. “Make it stop,” the wife said. But the husband didn’t know how. “Mill, please stop grinding! Please, no more!” His words didn’t work. The mill kept grinding. Finally, the young husband threw the mill into the sea as far as he could.
And there it’s been endlessly grinding salt for hundreds of years. That’s why the sea is salty.
12. Which word can best describe the old couple
A. Brave. B. Humorous. C. Outgoing. D. Kind-hearted.
13. How many characters are there in the story
A. Three. B. Four. C. Five. D. Six.
14. How did the young husband’s feelings change
A. Sorry→Sad→Excited. B. Surprised→Thankful→Happy.
C. Happy→Amazed→Proud. D. Unsatisfied→Excited→Afraid.
15. What does the underlined word “truth” in Paragraph 1 imply (暗指)
A. Being patient. B. Working hard.
C. Being satisfied. D. Listening carefully.

例文
Dear Peter,
I’m glad to hear from you! My twin brother and I look very similar but we have different personalities. He is outgoing and loves sports, while I’m quieter and enjoy reading. However, we both like listening to music and helping others.
About pandas, they are China’s national treasure with black-and-white fur. They mainly eat bamboo and live in the mountains of Southwest China. Sadly, there are only about 1,800 pandas left in the wild because their habitats are disappearing.
I hope this helps with your report!
Yours,
Li Hua
