Chinese people have been celebrating the Spring Festival for centuries. There are many changes in the customs. In the past, people used to set off fireworks. Now it’s not allowed to do that, especially in cities. The family used to enjoy the Spring Festival Gala on TV together. But now they play with phones. In the past, people just celebrated the festival by visiting relatives. Now they choose to travel with friends and relatives.
There are certain reasons behind the changes. First, the country is getting stronger and people are becoming richer, so we have more choices. Second, the government pays more attention to environmental protection.
In my opinion, I feel proud of these changes that show the rapid development of our country. Although some changes have taken place, the idea is the same — we share the happiness with our family.天府四中 2024 - 2025 学年度九上半期试题

A
My dear boys and girls, good morning. Today I’m going to give you my suggestions about how to become stronger.
As the high school entrance examination is coming soon, you might feel a bit worried or nervous.
These feelings may make you stressed out and fail to focus on your studies. But think about it. Would your favorite superhero have these same feelings
Scientists have been studying what they call the “Spider-man Effect” in children. They’ve found that if kids imagine themselves as a powerful person — such as a superhero like Spider-man, they won’t feel so nervous and will be able to focus on their work. Imagination and fantasy can play an important role in achieving the things we fear.
For example, if you feel nervous during an exam, try to imagine that you are Spider-man. You may find that you can “remove” the stress from this situation and feel more confident. This can help keep you fight off bad feelings and focus on your task, just like a superhero would. Of course, it doesn’t mean that you should dress like the Spider-man. Pretending to be powerful makes us feel powerful and that will have an influence on how we act in real life.
But you don’t have to believe in superheroes for this. Anyone you admire can encourage you to get through hard times, or remind you of how you should act in certain situations. Movie stars, famous painters, even our own parents — anyone can be our “Spider-man”. For example, when it comes to how I communicate with others, I like to look toward my mom for inspiration. She is a middle school teacher who is always kind, thoughtful and brave. I try to act the same way like her.
Thanks for your listening. I hope you can find your own strength to overcome the difficulties in your life.

Years ago, my mother had a terrible earache. The pain was unbearable, and it wouldn’t go away. Finally, she went to the hospital. The doctor pushed an otoscope(检耳镜) into her ear, and within seconds, he pulled it out and looked at her in the eyes. “Have you been putting Q-tips in your ears ” he asked. Like so many others, my mother had been using Q-tips to clean her ears. And her use of Q-tips had caused an ear problem.
Q-tips have long been seen as household basics. They are used for different kinds of beauty upkeep(美容保养), arts, home cleaning and baby care. Every box of Q-tips comes with a warning “Do not put this in your ear.” But many, if not most, have turned a blind eye to it. “People come in with Q-up-related ear problems all the time,” says Dennis Fitzgerald, a doctor in Washington, D.C. “People say they only use them to put on makeup(化妆品), but we know what else they’re using them for.”
The Q-tip was invented in 1923 by a man named Leo Gerstenzang. He came up with the idea after watching his wife use a toothpick(牙签) — with a cotton ball on the end to carefully clean their young child. These early Q-tips were similar to those sold today except for a few key differences. They were single-sided rather than double-sided. They were for baby care, not everything under the sun. And they didn’t try to keep people from putting them in their ears. It wasn’t until the 1970s that Q-tip boxes began to warn against sticking these things inside of ears.
Yet today, Q-tips are one of the most common causes of ear problems. “There’s really no way to stop it but take the product off the market,” says Fitzgerald, a doctor. “And that is, you know, impossible.”
( ) 71. Why does the writer talk about her mother’s experience at the beginning of the passage
A. To introduce the invention and history of Q-tips.
B. To lead to the topic about the dangers of Q-tips.
C. To help readers know the best use of Q-tips.
( ) 72. Which of the following statements about Q-tips is right
A. The wrong use of Q-tips leads to many ear problems.
B. The early Q-tips were used for babies only by doctors.
C. People pay enough attention to the warning about Q-tips.
( ) 73. What do the early Q-tips look like
A. B. C.
( ) 74. What does Fitzgerald mean at the end of the passage
A. We never use Q-tips anymore.
B. The government should stop the sale of Q-tips.
C. It seems hard to avoid using Q-tips in people’s life.
( ) 75. In which column(栏目) can you read the passage in the newspaper

Toys have become an important part of children’s lives. When we say “toys”, we often 1 them with something fun. But as a country strong in math, China has many folk games filled with 2 of math. You may play many of them. Let’s take a look at some ancient toys.
Luban Lock

Now, there are Luban Locks made up of nine or more pieces.

When it comes to taking notes, what do you think is the best way: using a pen or typing on a computer keyboard
As digital devices(数码设备) have played a main role in society. “Keyboard activity is now often used for early handwriting,” a new study shows. 1 Some schools have become completely digital, says Audrey van der Meer, the new study’s leader. However, she believes that young children should learn to manage a keyboard. 2
She notes that although computer technology is often necessary today, using a pen activates(激活) more areas of our brain than a keyboard does. 3 So that we can improve learning — and probably remember more — by handwriting our class notes.
When we write, our brain needs to think about and bring back memories of the shape of each letter. 4 And we need to control our hands to press a pen or pencil to write the different letters. All of this uses and connects more areas of the brain. Along the way, these processes appear to open the brain up for learning. She points out that taking notes by hand activates “visual(视觉) note-taking”. Rather than typing blindly, the visual note taker has to think about what is important to write down.
5 In fact, it points out that computers and other devices with keyboards have become necessary in many modern classrooms. Keyboarding also can be especially helpful for students with certain special needs, such as if they can’t use their hands smoothly.
But nearly all students will be improved by learning handwriting and drawing at an early age, the researchers now conclude.
A. She worried that children would forget how to write. B. The idea is that typing may be easier for young children. C. And they should learn to write by hand successfully as well. D. We also need to use our eyes to watch closely what we’re writing. E. On the other hand, this study doesn’t ask people to avoid digital devices. F. This is because writing needs complicated(复杂) movements that activate more areas of the brain.

With just a boat, a paddle(桨) and a bit of water, you can experience fun and exercise in a kayak.
Kayaking is a kind of paddling sport, and people often mistake it for canoeing (划独木舟), but they are quite different. Kayakers sit on the floor of the boat while canoeists sit on a bench. Also, kayak paddles have a wide flat part on either end, but canoe paddles have them on only one end.
Within kayaking, there are a few styles that need different levels of skill and fitness. Anyone can enjoy relaxing kayaking, most often paddling on a lake or perhaps a gentle river. Whitewater kayaking is much more exciting because boats travel down fast rivers and even over small waterfalls. Surf kayakers must be both strong-willed and talented as they ride waves on the open ocean.
The difficulty involved with kayaking is transportation — a boat several meters long is not exactly easy to carry around. However, a man who had to leave his kayak behind when moving to a smaller apartment borrowed the idea of Japanese paper folding, and made a new type of special kayak. He could fold it into a very thin pack, allowing the kayak to easily fit in a car. In this way, the problem was perfectly solved.
Kayaking can offer sightseeing opportunities and a good way to exercise certain parts of the body. Paddling is helpful for strengthening the upper body and it requires continuing turning of your main body, giving it some great exercise. Another advantage is that these movements are gentler on the body’s joints and tissues(关节和组织) than running. Kayaking doesn’t just improve the health of the body, though — it also has been shown to make you less stressed as well. With so many benefits, why not head to the closest water and give it a try
