Do you enjoy watching films Do you know how film was invented In fact, it doesn’t have just one inventor. Instead, it has been developed by many people over time.
The history of film dates back to the late 19th century. In 1894, the Lumiere brothers in France invented the motion (运动) picture camera. That made it possible to record and show moving pictures to people. In March, 1895, their first film was born in Paris. It recorded some workers leaving a factory, lasting about 46 seconds. Later, the Lumiere brothers made more films. These early films were black-and-white, short and silent, and they often recorded everyday life.
The silent era (时代) in film ended around the late 1920s. In 1927, the Jazz Singer came to the screen and it is often considered the turning point from silent to sound films. This change led to the decline in the production of silent films. And many silent film stars found themselves out of work. Even so, some silent films still continued to be made well into the 1930s.
During the 1930s and 1940s, Technicolour developed fast and it brought colour to the silver screen. The first full-colour film Becky Sharp came out in 1935. Later, more kinds of films appeared, such as dramas, action films, sci-fi films and musicals, and digital (数字) technology was introduced.
Anyway, the history of film keeps going, and it will keep developing with new technologies and the need of people.

Kids like robots. A robot named Robin is very popular in hospitals because it comforts sick (生病的) kids.
Robin is about 1.2 metres tall. With its big eyes and cute plastic body, Robin looks like a cartoon character. It acts like a kid. It can play games, tell funny stories and jokes, and explain difficult and scary medical words in simple ways.
The team behind Robin started developing it in early 2018. “We want to change kids” understanding of medical treatments (疗法) so that they will no longer feel lonely and scared,” says Karen Khachikyan, CEO of the company behind Robin.
Robin can know how a child is feeling through his or her facial expressions. It can also do with different situations and talk with children. “Kids in hospitals often have to experience long-term and sometimes painful treatments. Most of them feel lonely and scared. And some may even stop speaking to anyone and lose interest in everything.” Karen said “However, all the kids who have talked with Robin would like to meet it again.
