Generations to come will look at the coins bearing these designs and be reminded of what can be accomplished with determination and a desire to improve opportunities for all.Anna May WongWong was the first Chinese American film star in Hollywood, appearing in more than 60 movies. Her coin shows her resting her head on her hand, surrounded by the round lights of a stage.A film critic once noted that Wong’s performances often carried a sense of longing, as if she was yearning for a Hollywood that fully accepted her.Maya AngelouThe late writer and social activist has already received a presidential Medal of Freedom, won a National Book Award, and published more than 30 bestselling poems. Angelou’s coin will show her with her arms lifted, in front of a bird in flight and a rising sun. Those images are inspired by her poetry and symbolic of the way she lived. Scholars analyze that her works frequently explored themes of resilience (恢复) and hope, mirroring her own life journey marked by overcoming hardships.Sally RideThe late astronaut, physicist and educator is best known as the first American woman — and youngest American — to travel to space. After her retirement, she devoted herself to inspiring young people, particularly girls, in science, engineering, technology and math. Her coin design shows her standing next to a window on a spaceship, which is inspired by what she once said. “When I wasn’t working, I was usually at a window looking down at Earth.”Wilma MankillerMankiller was the first elected female chief of the Cherokee Nation in 1987, and is celebrated as an activist for Native American and women’s rights. Under her leadership, infant death rate declined and educational levels rose. Mankiller’s coin shows her in a traditional dress in front of the seven-pointed star of the Cherokee Nation. Historians emphasize that her leadership style was both inclusive (包容的) and decisive, bringing about tangible (明确的) changes for her people.21. What can we infer about Anna May Wong from the passage A. Her performances lacked emotional depth.B. She was widely accepted by Hollywood from the start.C. She faced challenges in gaining full acceptance in Hollywood.D. She starred in fewer than 50 movies throughout her career.22. Why are the images of a bird in flight and a rising sun chosen for Maya Angelou’s coin A. They represent her love for nature.B. They are symbols of her favorite hobbies.C. They were randomly selected by coin designers.D. They reflect the themes in her poetry and her life attitude.23. Which of the following best describes Wilma Mankiller’s leadership A. Ineffective in bringing about any changes.B. Focused mainly on economic development.C. Unconcerned with the social welfare of her community.D. Characterized by inclusiveness and the ability to achieve results.BOn a recent weekday, I sent an Instagram message to a friend of mine, an art adviser in New York named Stephen Truax, to chat about an exhibition. Instead of messaging me back in the app, he texted me to say that he’d blocked Instagram on his smartphone during daytime working hours.Impressed, I asked him how he was accomplishing such a challenge. Truax said he was using Opal, an app that makes your smartphone a little more like a so-called dumbphone (功能机). He said that several of his friends swore by the app, and so he had begun using it, too. I took this word of mouth as evidence that it might actually work. I downloaded it without any particular optimism, considering my phone addiction an incurable case.Opal, I found, provides something like gentle parenting for your smartphone habits: you set up a daily schedule of which apps to block, and then the app guides you into sticking with it. As the app suggested, I set up a recurring “Work Time” block from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and selected every social app I ever use. At the scheduled time, those apps go gray on my home screen and remain that way all day.Every time I’m upset that I can’t look at Instagram on my phone, I just think, surely I, a human adult, can wait a few more hours to see my friends’ dog photos—5 p.m. isn’t that far away. Crucially, Opal also allows users to suspend the block for short periods of time without feeling like failures; when the scheduled break time passes, the blockage automatically continues.I find comfort in the fact that my mind feels clearer after a full workday without checking social media, and an added bonus is that once the block ends I can mainline all the good posts that I missed. As Truax told me, “The flood of content that happens after dinner is wild.” The addiction is not cured, perhaps, but at least it’s finally managed.24. How did the author feel when downloading Opal A. Impressed. B. Hopeful. C. Doubtful. D. Disappointed.25. What does Opal do according to the passage A. Block any incoming texts. B. Prevent users from using Instagram.C. Turn smartphones into dumbphones. D. Limit access to certain apps in given time.26. Why does Opal allow temporary lift of the blockage A. To extend block duration. B. To offer guilt-free flexibility.C. To improve app performance. D. To suspend all phone functions.27. What can we learn from the text A. Surfing the web makes the mind clearer. B. Practising self-control deepens enjoyment.C. It’s best to surf the latest news after supper. D. It is impossible to ease phone addiction.CAs dust from the Sahara blows thousands of kilometers across the Atlantic Ocean, it becomes progressively more nutritious for marine microbes (海洋微生物), a new study suggests.“Dust clouds settling on the Atlantic can generate phytoplankton (浮游植物) blooms that support marine ecosystems,” said Timothy Lyons, a scientist at the University of California, Riverside. “Iron in the dust is incredibly important for life,” he said. Phytoplankton require it to change carbon dioxide into sugars.Over 240 million metric tons of Saharan dust blows over the Atlantic Ocean each year. To know whether the types of dust settling on the Atlantic had changed over the past 120,000 years, Lyons and the marine geologist Jeremy Owens, analyzed dust-derived (灰尘衍生的) minerals in four cores collected from the muddy seafloor — two in the eastern Atlantic near Africa, and two from farther west near North America. In dust worldwide, approximately 40% of iron is ordinarily present within “reactive” minerals like pyrite. This kind of iron can break down with weak acids and potentially be used by life. In the core samples from the bottom of the Atlantic, only about 9% of iron in the dust minerals sampled from farther west consisted of reactive iron minerals, compared with about 18% in dust minerals taken from closer to Africa.“There’re photochemical transformations that tend to make the iron more soluble (可溶解的) in water,” said Lyons. He and Owens concluded that during the dust’s several-day trans-Atlantic flight, more and more of its reactive iron was changed — attacked by acids and radiation. As that improved iron later settled into the ocean, it was eaten directly by phytoplankton. The only reactive iron that made it to the seafloor was the stuff that wasn’t changed during air transport, and wasn’t taken in later.“The new results are plausible because previous studies have shown that iron minerals react in the atmosphere,” said Natalie Mahowald, an atmospheric scientist who studies dust at Cornell University. “Their conclusion goes along with what I thought was happening,” she said.28. Why is iron important for marine ecosystems A. It helps dust clouds settle. B. It generates phytoplankton.C. It changes CO into sugars. D. It boosts phytoplankton growth.29. What can be concluded from the findings of the research A. Weak acids seldom change reactive iron minerals.B. The dust minerals from farther west are rich in iron.C. The fewer minerals there are, the more sensitive weak acids are.D. The farther the desert dust flies, the less the reactive iron is left.30. What does paragraph 5 mainly talk about A. How phytoplankton makes it to the seafloor. B. How reactive iron cooperates with radiation.C. How iron in dust becomes easier to absorb. D. How atmospheric chemical reactions fail.31. What does the underlined word “plausible” in the last paragraph mean A. reliable. B. uncertain. C. abstract. D. Contradictory.第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Everybody lies to some degree. 32 However, nobody wants to be caught. Of course there’s a huge gap that separates little white lies from the whoppers(弥天大谎), but learning how to tell if someone is lying is a skill that’ll always come in handy. Here’s what to watch for.33There are many signs someone could be lying. For example, one may make too little or too much eye contact, sweat or flush in their face, and have difficulty controlling the volume and tone of their voice. 34 Hand gestures that normally accompany talking may occur with less frequency. Arm and leg movements may also be fewer. It seems that liars would become more concentrated on telling the lie, so they get quieter in their body.Ask questions——quickly. If you suspect you’re being lied, try this technique, which experts say can trip up a liar. Try asking questions quickly—one after the other. “The first lie is easy,” explains Kang Lee, professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education’s Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development. “ 35 When you continue to ask questions and put people on the spot, it gets harder to maintain the lie.”Check for emotional “leaks”.Micro-expressions often show a person’s real thoughts. If you were to watch people very closely on videotape, you would see them showing their true emotion just before they show the fake expression designed to cover up the lie. But these extremely brief facial movements, some only lasting a quarter of a second, aren’t easy to spot. 36 And intentional liars tend to add other expressions, like smiling, to hide a lie.So here’s hoping that the next time someone throws a lie your way, you’ll know just how to catch it.A. Listen to the voices.B. Get better at body language.C. The follow-up lie is more difficult.D. Interestingly, people who are lying often become more still.E. Even professionals trained in lie detection can’t always tell them apart.F. In some cultures, it’s considered inappropriate to maintain eye contact.G. Lies occur between friends, teachers and students, husbands and wives.第三部分 语言运用(共两节;满分30分)第一节(共15 小题;每小题1分,满分15分)阅读下面短文,从各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。Children were enthusiastically preparing for their approaching concert. As a girl of shy and reserved nature, I had to take a fresh start to fit into the city life. One sunny day, my school announced an exciting event, a talent show for the local food bank. Students were encouraged to showcase their unique talents in front of the public in the city hall on National Day. A buzz of excitement filled the school as everyone began preparing for the big day. Deep down, I felt a spark of curiosity and a desire to participate. However, my self-doubt held me back, “I don’t have any special skills to share.”Days turned into weeks, and the talent show drew closer. I couldn’t shake the upsetting feeling until one day Emma, one of the most popular girls in my class, came to me while I was helping in the grocery store after class. “How about singing together in the talent show ” She grinned (笑), “I heard you singing a tune, along the way back home. I can’t help following you here.” Gosh, I couldn’t believe my ears. Emma, with personality and popularity, acknowledged my little talent. Since Emma had the world’s prettiest voice, I felt like being favoured by fortune.“You two The talent show for the food bank ” My mum bent towards us and her face lit up. “A big occasion.” Then a light bulb seemed to go in her head. “Why not practise right now upstairs I bet you’ll be a perfect match.” Winking at us, she seemed to know we were thinking alike.Emma and I embarked on rehearsing (排练) almost every single day after school. I’m greatly honored to share my thoughts on the topic: “Should the school library buy e-books and e-magazines ”Personally, I’m quite excited about this plan. Digital resources can provide a wide variety of materials — from textbooks and English novels to popular magazines —to meet different students’ diverse interests and academic needs. Not only do they save space in the library, but they also offer convenient access for us. Moreover, many digital resources usually come with interactive features like audio and video, making reading more engaging and enjoyable.I truly believe this small change will improve our campus reading experience. That’s all. Thanks for listening!(105words)读后续写I was completely shocked by the news. Gloomy and desperate, I sat silently in the room for what seemed like ages, unsure of what to do next. Then I started to pace up and down like a caged animal, debating with myself whether or not to go on stage alone. “How can this be possible ” I thought to myself. Fear and anxiety rose in my heart, and it seemed that all our hard work was in vain. But then the thought of the support and encouragement from Emma and my mom came flooding back to me. It was at the moment that I realized that I couldn’t let self-doubt hold me back. Filled with determination, I resolved to proceed with the performance by myself. Finally came the big moment. As I stepped onto the stage, I could feel my heart pounding wildly in my chest. Glancing around the hall, I took a deep breath and began to sing. Surprisingly, all my worries suddenly disappeared and a wave of confidence washed over me. I was completely immersed in the joy of performing and the audience was attracted by the passion in my voice. When I finished my song, the whole hall burst into applause. Tears of joy welled up in my eyes as Emma presented a big bunch of flowers to me, and my mum stood near, winking at us. From that day forward, I learned that by overcoming fears and self-doubts, we can make a difference.【解析】【导语】本文是一篇应用文。文章主要介绍四位来自不同领域的美国女性先驱将登上美国硬币,分别介绍了她们的成就及硬币设计所体现的个人特质与贡献。【21题详解】推理判断题。根据Anna May Wong部分第二段“A film critic once noted that Wong’s performances often carried a sense of longing, as if she was yearning for a Hollywood that fully accepted her.(一位影评人曾指出,黄柳霜的表演常常带着一种渴望感,仿佛她在期盼一个能完全接纳她的好莱坞)”可知,黄柳霜在好莱坞获得完全接纳的过程中面临挑战。故选C。【22题详解】细节理解题。根据Maya Angelou部分“Angelou’s coin will show her with her arms lifted, in front of a bird in flight and a rising sun. First of all, there’s Brown Hall, which is not the most modern of buildings, but it is very popular. Unlike the other halls, it has recently had a gym built in its basement. Another option is Blake Residence, built like a large house. Everybody cooks and eats together. It has a private garden and is even more peaceful because this is an all-girls' residence but boys can visit it. The largest one we have is Queen’s Building and this has been upgraded recently. The original parking area has been built on and each bedroom now has its own shower room. A further option is the Parkway Flats with a preservation order. This has meant that only a limited amount could be done to upgrade it, and the surrounding area is important. So parking is not permitted around the flats. However, the flats do have many extra facilities such as a special computer room, a small library and a self-service restaurant. The cost of meals is covered in the fees so it does look a bit more expensive. 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源列表 2025-2026学年上学期期中考高二英语听力.mp3 漳州三中2025-2026学年上学期期中考高二英语.docx 漳州三中2025-2026学年上学期期中考高二英语答案.docx
