After the birth of my second child, I got a job at a restaurant. Having worked with an experienced waitress for a few days, I was allowed to wait tables on my own. All went well that first week. When Saturday night came, I was luckily given the tables not far from the kitchen. However, I still felt it a little hard to carry the trays (托盘) because it reached the limit of my strength.
Before I knew it , the restaurant was full of people. I moved slowly, minding every step. I remember how happy I was when I saw the tray stand near the tables; it looked different from the one I was trained on.It had nice handles, which made it easier to move around. I was pleased with every thing and began to believe I was a natural at this job.
Then, an old man came to me and said,“Excuse me, dear, my wife and I loved watching you work. It seems your tray stand has been very useful to you, but we are getting ready to leave now , and my wife needs her walker back.”

Unlike relay(接力) runners who pass a stick in one direction, businessmen traveling the Silk Road moved goods like silk, gold, fruit, and glass in various directions. This famous trade route(路线) was where they earned their living.
Far more than a simple trading network, the Silk Road passed through thousands of cities and towns. It started from eastern China, across Central Asia and the Middle East, and ended in the Mediterranean Sea. It was used from about 200 BC to about AD 1300, when sea travel offered new routes, providing more convenience. It was sometimes called the world's longest highway. However, the Silk Road was made up of many routes, not one smooth path. They passed through what are now 18 countries. The routes crossed mountains and deserts and had many dangers of hot sun, deep snow and even battles. Only experienced traders could return safe.
The Silk Road got its name from its most prized product. Silk could be used like money to pay taxes or buy goods. However, the Silk Road facilitated(促进) the exchange of many other significant goods. European gold, silver, and glass reached the Middle East and Asia, while horses traded from other areas changed farming practices in China. Indian businessmen traded salt and other valuable goods. Chinese businessmen traded paper, which produced an immediate effect on the West. Apples traveled from central Asia to Rome. The Chinese had learned to graft(嫁接) different trees together to make new kinds of fruit. They passed this science on to others, including the Romans. The Romans used grafting to grow the apple. Trading along theSilk Road led to world-wide business 2,000 years before the World Wide Web.
The people along the Silk Road did not share just goods. They also shared their beliefs. The Silk Road provided pathways for learning, diplomacy(外交), and religion (宗教).
28. The Silk Road became less important because .
A. people needed fewer foreign goods B. sea travel provided easier routes
C. silk trading became less popular D. it was made up of various routes
29. It's probable that traders along the Silk Road needed .
A. to deal with a lot of difficulties B. to receive certain special training
C. to know the making of products D. to remember the entire trade route
30. New technologies could travel along the Silk Road because people .
A. traded goods along the route B. earned their living by traveling
C. learned from one another D. shared each other's beliefs
31. What is the best title for the passage
A. The Silk Road: Routes Full of Dangers B. The Silk Road: Pathways for Learning
C. The Silk Road: Past and Present D. The Silk Road: East Meets West

The latest generation of artificial intelligence models is taking on the job of checking mathematical proofs(证明), but some wonder how useful they can really be.
Artificial intelligence could be about to transform the way we do maths. An AI-powered tool capable of automatically proving mathematical theorems(定理) has been making waves in the mathematical community. At a recent conference, computers showed great potential in solving complex problems, even those that had long stumped human mathematicians. This new development has led to a heated debate: will AI replace human mathematicians
Some mathematicians are excited. They believe that AI can help explore new mathematical territories(领土). For example, an AI system was able to find a new proof for a long- standing theorem, a feat (壮举)that took human mathematicians years to attempt. However, others are skeptical. They argue that AI lacks the deep understanding and intuition(直觉) that human mathematicians own.“AI can find patterns and prove theorems, but it doesn't truly understand the beauty and significance of mathematics,” said one mathe-matician.
The AI tool works by analyzing large amounts of mathematical data and using algorithms(算法) to search for logical connections. It can quickly test thousands of potential proof paths, a task that would take humans a huge amount of time. But critics point out that if the input data is not exact or the algorithms are not correct, the results can be unreliable.
As AI continues to develop, the relationship between AI and mathematics will surely develop. Whether it will be a partner or a replacement for human mathematicians remains to be seen. However, the assumption that AI will take the place of humans is probably unlikely to be transformed into a reality on account of its apparent limitation.
32. What can the AI-powered tool do in the mathematical field according to the passage
A. Only prove simple theorems.
B. Automaticly prove mathematical theorems and find new proofs.
C. Replace human mathematicians completely.
D. Understand the beauty of mathematics better than humans.
33. The underlined word"stumped"in the second paragraph is closest in meaning to .
A. interested B. excited C. puzzled D. amazed
34. What can be inferred about the future of the relationship between AI and mathematicians
A. AI will definitely replace human mathematicians.
B. The relationship will remain unchanged.
C. AI will probably be a helper rather than a complete replacement.
D. Human mathematicians will stop using AI.
35. What is the main idea of the passage
A. AT's technical process for proving theorems.
B. Mathematicians' criticism of AI's limitations.
C. Potential future AI- human battle.
D. AI's role in math proofs and replacement debate.

With merely one week remaining before the school's annual talent show, Jack felt extremely tense just thinking about it. Mr. Mike, his English teacher, had inspired him to participate in the speech contest." Your pronunciation is great," Mr. Mike had said, patting him on the shoulder. Yet Jack understood his own reality: he often forgot his lines (台词) when speaking in public or when he was nervous.
Every afternoon after class, Jack stayed in the empty classroom, practicing alone. He marked his lines with colored pens and spoke the lines to the silent walls. Sometimes he pretended Mr. Mike was sitting in the front row, nodding approvingly.
The big day finally arrived. Jack's legs were shaking as he waited on the backstage. Through the cur-tains, he saw the sea of faces in the hall. Suddenly, a staff member rushed in.“ We need to cut two minutes from each speech” Jack's heart sank— his carefully timed lines now had a gaping hole. He didn't know what contents should be cut off.
He froze there. Just at that time, Mr. Mike appeared beside him.“ Think of it as a chance to adapt to the change,” the teacher said softly.“ If you don't know what to talk about, you can TELL YOUR STORY.”But Jack's mind went blank. When his name was called, he stumbled (跌跌撞撞) onto the stage, microphone trembling (颤抖) in his hand.
The first sentence came out shakily. Then disaster struck. Jack forgot all his lines. The audience shifted in their seats and waited for his next sentence. With so many eyes fixed on him, his face went red and his throat tightened. He wanted to run from the stage.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Just then, he noticed Mr. Mike looking at him full of expectation.
When he finished his speech, a great round of applause filled the hall.
