“To be, or not to be: that is the question.” This is a famous line from Shakespeare's play Hamlet. People often use this sentence to describe difficult decisions.

Host: Welcome to the talk show Clear View. Today let's explore the topic “Should rules be broken sometimes ”. Let's start with a story. Alex was a taxi driver. One day, he had a very sick passenger. Alex drove very fast to the hospital at once. He didn't slow down at red lights. He even flew through one. But was that okay
I'm glad to welcome our two guests – Zhang Xinyan and Tom Blake. Xinyan is a lawyer and Tom is a university teacher. They will share their thoughts about this topic.
Was Alex right to break traffic rules
Now the two guests are having a debate about the topic. Let’s listen to their arguments.

Tom: In my opinion, of course, we should not break rules. But in some very special situations, breaking rules can save lives. Just like this taxi driver.
Xinyan: I don't think so. People should not break rules. We have rules for a reason. Take this taxi driver for example. He could cause an accident. Instead of saving a life, he might kill someone.
Tom: I understand that, Xinyan. But this taxi driver drove fast but safely, and he saved a life. I believe, in some urgent situations, it might be okay to break certain rules without causing harm.
Xinyan: I see your point, but he could also choose to call the police. To sum up, rules are good for us and for society. Breaking them can have very bad effects.
