1. My Low-carbon Life
The environmental pollution is worsening day by day—many forests are cut down, and water and air are severely polluted, which has damaged our living environment.
As a student, I stick to a low-carbon life to save energy. First and foremost, I walk to school every day; this not only cuts carbon emissions but also keeps me fit. Besides, I always turn off lights and fans immediately when leaving the classroom. I also reuse paper and never waste water.
I hope more people will join the low-carbon life, making our earth greener and more beautiful.
2. Friends
What are friends We often discuss this topic. In my view, friends are those who stand by you through thick and thin.
As the saying goes, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” True friends will point out your mistakes, even if the words are hard to hear. They let you share joys—doubling happiness—and sorrows—halving sadness. Someone once said, “You can’t walk far without a friend.” So friends are extremely important.
I’ll cherish every sincere friendship and make more good friends.
3. How to Deal with Our Study Problems
Though we often feel stressed about studies, we must find proper ways to relieve it.
For example, wearing calm colors like blue and white helps calm our anxious minds and focus on learning. We should also be careful, as “a miss is as good as a mile” reminds us to avoid carelessness. Moreover, we need to strike a balance between academic tasks and hobbies, planning spare time wisely. Never lose confidence—with hard work, we’ll make great progress. When stuck, turn to teachers or classmates; keeping worries to ourselves is unwise.
These methods will help us handle study pressure better and move forward steadily.
4. How to Be a Greener Person
It’s our duty to protect the environment around us. Reducing our carbon footprint is a small but powerful step we can take.
To start with, we should ride bikes or take buses to school instead of asking parents to drive us. When going out, never step on grass or draw on public walls. For shopping, use cloth bags instead of disposable plastics to cut waste. At home, save water and electricity—turn off lights when leaving rooms. At school, collect waste paper and sort recyclables like bottles and cans. Also, avoid playing loud pop music in public or spitting.
Let’s act together to guard our earth, our only home.
5. My Favourite Great Book
My favorite great book is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain—a classic that portrays 19th-century American children’s exciting adventures.
The main character Tom is a lively and clever boy who lives with his strict Aunt Polly. He has many unforgettable experiences: running to a river island with friends Huck and Joe, hunting for treasure with Huck, and even getting lost in a cave with Becky. Finally, they find a box of gold. Key characters include pretty Becky, kind Huck, and the villain Injun Joe.
The story’s theme is children’s growth—learning to be more serious—and it teaches us to stay curious and brave. I’ve read it twice and still love its vivid plots.
6. How to Keep a Good Relationship with Parents
In my life, my parents set many rules: no night outings with friends, no choosing my own clothes, and too much focus on exam results. This sometimes makes me feel stressed and misunderstood.
However, I try to understand their intentions—their strictness comes from deep love and hope for my bright future. To keep a good bond, I study hard to meet their expectations, listen to their advice patiently, chat with them like friends about my school life, share my troubles, and help with housework like washing dishes.
These small acts let them feel my care and narrow our generation gap. Now we understand each other better.
7. Being a Good Listener
Good afternoon, everyone! Today I’d like to share my thoughts on “Being a Good Listener.”
Good listening is a simple but important skill. It shows we value others’ opinions and builds trust between people. Parents should listen to kids to understand their feelings better and strengthen mutual trust. Teachers should listen to students to improve teaching methods and get along with them. Students should listen to classmates to deepen friendship and help each other solve problems. When listening, remember to be patient and avoid interrupting others.
In short, good listening bridges gaps between people and makes our connections closer. Thank you for your listening!
8. How to Keep Safe
As teenagers, safety should always be our top priority. There are several key suggestions to keep ourselves safe.
First, be careful when making friends, especially online—never share personal information like your address or phone number to avoid traps from bad people. Second, if you’re in danger, call the police immediately to protect yourself. Third, eat healthily: avoid expired food (it harms your health) and wash hands before meals to prevent food poisoning.
Finally, with summer coming, never swim alone in rivers or lakes—it’s deadly. In a word, safety comes first, and we must always stay alert.
9. Reading —— a Good Habit
Reading is an excellent habit, and I love it deeply. Forming a good reading habit is vital for every student.
It not only enriches our knowledge but also improves our critical thinking. In my spare time, I often read books—like classic novels and science books—at home or in the library. I prefer storybooks because their vivid plots attract me. Now I buy books online for big discounts, which makes reading more convenient.
Reading also improves my writing skills—many good expressions in my essays come from books. Let’s all pick up books and enjoy the joy of reading!
10. How to Eat in a Healthy Way
Hello, everybody! I’m Li Hua. Today my topic is “How to Eat in a Healthy Way.”
Eating healthily is key to keeping our bodies strong. First, avoid fried food and sugary snacks—they have too much fat and sugar that harm our organs like the heart and liver. Instead, eat more vegetables and fruit—they’re rich in vitamins and fiber to boost our immunity. My eating habits are healthy: I have wholemeal bread, eggs, and milk for breakfast (it gives me enough energy for the morning) and rice, noodles, and vegetables for dinner. I never skip meals or eat junk food.
I hope everyone develops a healthy diet to stay fit.
11. Music
I love music deeply—it’s a vital part of my life that brings me joy and comfort.
When I’m tired after a long day of studying, music gives me energy; when I’m sad because of a small failure, it cheers me up instantly. Without music, life would be boring and empty. Different people love different types of music. I enjoy loud electronic music with strong rhythms—it makes me excited and eager to dance. My favorite band is The Cool Kids. However, I can’t stand quiet, slow music—it fails to arouse my interest and even makes me sleepy.
Music helps me relax and express my feelings. I’ll always love it and keep it as my lifelong companion.
12. How to Behave Well
Behaving well is key to getting along with others, and it’s especially important for middle school students.
As a student, we must be punctual and keep promises—punctuality and honesty help build a good character. Never lie to others or use dirty words. We should also be polite to everyone and help those in need, like assisting the elderly to cross the road safely. Obeying traffic rules is necessary too, as it keeps us away from danger. In public places (like libraries or buses), keep our voices low and don’t litter or spit. Besides, learn teamwork—cooperating with classmates helps us finish group tasks better.
Let’s all behave well to become respectful and likable people.
13. My Favourite Movie Star
My favorite movie star is Jackie Chan, a world-famous actor who is known for his amazing and realistic action scenes.
He’s not very tall, with black hair, a big nose, and bright small eyes. What I like most about him is his warm smile—he always wears it, especially after defeating villains in his films. Most of his movies are exciting and full of positive energy, and Police Story is my favorite—it fully shows his courage and superb action skills.
What I admire most is his kindness: he often donates money to help poor children go to school. Jackie Chan is not just an actor but a role model. I’ll learn his kindness and dedication to his career.
14. What Will You Do for Mum
Hello, class! I’m Li Jing. Mother’s Day is coming soon, and I want to do something special to thank Mum for her selfless love over the years.
First, I’ll buy her favorite roses—she has loved flowers since I was little. After school, I’ll cook a delicious dinner by myself, including her two favorite dishes: braised pork and fried shrimp. During dinner, I’ll give her a handmade card with a short note: “I love you, Mum! Thank you for taking care of me.” After dinner, I’ll help her wash dishes and massage her shoulders to relax her tired body.
I love Mum deeply, and I’ll also study hard to make her proud. Thanks for your attention!
15. My Free Time
I have a rich and meaningful free time that helps me relax and grow.
After school, I often do sports like playing basketball with friends. This not only strengthens my body but also teaches me the importance of teamwork. When I’m tired from sports, I listen to light music or watch documentaries—music calms my mind, and documentaries help me learn more about the world. On weekends, I help my parents with housework: washing dishes, sweeping the floor, and folding clothes. Sometimes, I sit on the balcony to read—classic novels, science books, or poems.
Reading calms me and enriches my knowledge. I love my free time for the freedom and growth it brings.
16. My Dream
Everyone has dreams, and as middle school students, our small dreams are important parts of the “China Dream.” A big dream is made up of many small, steady efforts.
My name is Li Hong, and my dream is to be a great scientist. I want to contribute to China’s scientific development, like inventing new technologies to help people’s lives. To achieve this dream, I’ll study hard: learn more knowledge in math and science, do experiments carefully in class, and ask teachers for help when I’m confused. When facing difficulties, I’ll stay positive and never give up.
I believe every small step I take now will bring me closer to my dream. Let’s hold on to our dreams—they’ll come true one day!
17. When in China, Do as the Chinese Do
Meals in China are quite different from those in the West, and understanding these differences helps you integrate better.
In China, lunch is usually around 12 o’clock, and it often includes rice, vegetables, and meat to ensure balanced nutrition. Dinner is much earlier than in Western countries—most families eat before 7 p.m. We use chopsticks for most food, and learning to use them skillfully is a way to show respect for local culture. Unlike Western three-course dinners (appetizer, main dish, dessert), Chinese dinners have many dishes served together on the table. Also, Chinese people love talking about food during meals—it makes the time lively and enjoyable.
Remember: When in China, watch locals and follow their ways. It will make your stay more pleasant.
18. A Good Habit, a Successful School Life
A habit is something we do regularly without thinking, and good habits are the key to a successful school life.
In daily life, we need three important habits: keep a balanced diet (eat more vegetables, less junk food) to stay healthy; exercise often (like running or playing ball) to stay energetic; and use time wisely (make a daily plan) to avoid laziness. In study, good habits are also necessary: preview lessons before class to grasp key points in advance; listen carefully in class to follow teachers’ ideas; and do homework independently to check our learning progress.
Good habits help us learn better, improve our skills, and develop self-discipline. They lay a solid foundation for future success. I’m glad I have formed these good habits!
19. Sharing
Learning to share is a valuable lesson for everyone—it makes life more colorful and connects people closer.
I share many things in different ways: I tell interesting stories from books to friends, share useful study tips via QQ, and talk about happy moments (like winning a basketball game) with my family over dinner. Once, my classmate Emily felt lonely because she just transferred to our class. I shared my favorite storybooks with her and chatted with her after class every day. Gradually, she became more outgoing and made more friends. Later, she even started sharing her drawing hobbies with me!
Sharing not only helps others but also lets us feel happy and grow. Let’s all learn to share more!
20. The Spring Festival
The Spring Festival is the first day of China’s lunar year—it’s the most important festival in China, a time for family reunion full of joy.
A month before the festival, people start busy preparations: cook delicious traditional food (like dumplings, which symbolize wealth, and fish, which means “surplus”); clean houses thoroughly to “sweep away bad luck”; and decorate homes with red lanterns and couplets (red stands for happiness, and couplets have good wishes). On New Year’s Eve, families gather for a big dinner, stay up till midnight (called “shousui”), and set off fireworks and crackers to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year, kids wear new clothes (symbolizing a fresh start) and greet their parents with “Happy New Year,” receiving lucky money (called “hongbao”) with best wishes.
I love the Spring Festival because it’s full of warmth and family love.
21. Thank You, My English Teacher
I want to say “thank you” to my English teacher—he has helped me a lot and made English my favorite subject.
He’s tall with thick glasses, and he loves sports. After class, he often plays football or basketball with us, so we see him not just as a teacher but also as a friend. His classes are full of fun: he uses small games (like word puzzles) and interesting stories to make English easy and interesting. Though he’s kind, he’s strict with us—he never lets us pretend to know what we don’t. He often tells us, “Memorizing words without understanding is useless; you need to use them in sentences.”
With his help, my English has improved a lot. He’s not just a teacher but a guide in my study. I’ll always remember his teachings and work harder at English.
22. Is iPad Good or Bad for Middle School Students
I’m Li Hua, a junior high student. Now many students have iPads, and some see it as a fashion. But is the iPad good or bad for us
On the one hand, iPads are helpful for study: we can download English listening materials to practice anytime, anywhere, and read e-books to save paper. It really improves our learning efficiency. On the other hand, some students misuse iPads: they bring them to class, listen to music without earphones (which disturbs others) or play games (which wastes precious class time).
In my opinion, we should use iPads mainly for study—put them away during class to focus on learning. Schools should also make rules to guide proper use. If used well, iPads can be a helpful tool; if not, they’ll harm our study.
