Learning objectives
In this lesson, students will be able to:
Understand the English expressions related to different kinds of physical work, such as “watering the plants” “feeding animals” ,etc. They will also master the key sentences and structures in the passage about the importance of physical work.
Through reading the passage, students’ reading comprehension ability, including skimming and scanning for key information, will be improved.
Develop a positive attitude towards physical work, realizing its significance in physical and mental growth, health and character- building.

Physical work plays an important role in our physical and mental growth, in our health, and in our overall well-being.
First, physical work teaches us some important life skills. Through activities, we learn the value of hard work and develop a sense of responsibility. It is not only beneficial to our daily life, but also to our development.
Second, it helps us build strength. By doing farm work, for example, we develop stronger muscles and hearts. Our hands and feet learn to cooperate with each other. Our brains
and bodies become healthier as a result.
Third, physical work builds character. It helps us develop self-confidence, communication skills, and friendships. We learn how to work with and respect others.
Teenagers should often do some physical work, whether that means household chores, working on a farm, or finding a physical job. It builds up our fitness, teaches us important life skills, and improves our mental well-being. It prepares us for our future.

build up有 “增强；建立；积累；逐步增长” 等含义，在文中表示 “增强（体质等）”。

用法：
为动词短语，后接名词或代词作宾语，代词需放在中间。
例句：

not only...but also...意为“不但……而且……”
Point
讲解：
not only... but also...连接并列主语时，谓语动词的单复数形式与靠近它的主语保持一致；连接其他成分时，要求前后成分在语法形式上一致。
例句：

（他不但会说英语，而且会说法语。）
