1919年，威尔逊总统将大峡谷地区辟为"大峡谷国家公园"(Grand Canyon National Park)。
大峡谷是科罗拉多河的杰作。这条河发源于科罗拉多州的落基山，洪流奔泻，经犹他州、亚利桑那州，由加利福尼亚州的加利福尼亚湾入海，全长2320千米。"科罗拉多"，在西班牙语中，意为"红河"，这是由于河中夹带大量泥沙，河水常显红色，故有此名，在大峡谷中，有75种哺乳动物、50种两栖和爬行动物、25种鱼类和超过300种的鸟类生存。整个国家公园是许多动物的乐园。

answer n. answer是常用词，此外它还可以指“答案；解决办法”，而reply却没有此意。
v. answer是及物动词。在answer the telephone，answer the door等表达中，不可以使用reply。
reply n. reply的用法比answer较正式，是指经过考虑后的答复。
v. reply除了后面可以跟直接引语或宾语从句以外，一般只用作不及物动词，常和介词to连用。
