There is an old joke among pilots that says the ideal flight crew is a computer, apilot and a dog.
The computer’s job is to fly the plane. The pilot is there to feed the dog. And the dog’s job is to bite the pilot if he tries to touch the computer.
Handling complex tasks to computers is not new. Bu trecent progress in machine learning, a subfield of artificial in telligence (AI), has enabled computers to handle many problems which were previously beyond them. The result has been an AI boom, with computers moving into everything from medical diagnosis and insurance to self-driving cars.
Ⅱ、阅读理解
There is aproblem, though machine learning works by giving computers the ability to train themselves, which adapts their programming to the task at hand. People struggle to understand exactly how those self-written programs do what they do. When algorithms (计算程序) are doing small tasks, such as playing chess or recommending a film to watch, this “black box” problem can be safely ignored. When they are deciding who get saloan, or how to drive a car through a crowded city, it is potentially harmful. And when things go wrong, then customers, regulators and the courts will want to know why.
For some people this is a reason to hold back AI. France’s digital-economy minister,Mounir Mahjoubi, has said that the government should not use any algorithm whose decisions cannot be explained. But that is an overreaction.
Ⅱ、阅读理解
The difficulties caused by clever computers are not unheard of. Society already has plenty of experience dealing with problematic black boxes; the most common are called human beings, who can’t even figure out what’s going on in a brain. In response to the weakness in humans, society has evolved a series of workable coping mechanisms, called laws, rules and regulations. Many of these can be applied to machines as well.
Humans have worked with computers on complex tasks for decades. One lesson from such applications is that, wherever possible, people should supervise (监督) the machines. In that joke, lots are necessary in case something happens that is beyond the scope of artificial intelligence. As computers spread, companies and governments should ensure the first line of defense is a real person who can overrule the algorithms if necessary.
Ⅱ、阅读理解
AI is bound to suffer some troubles. But it also promises extraordinary benefits and the difficulties it poses are not unprecedented (无先例的). If the new black boxes prove tricky, there will be time to toughen the rules.

This is the first case in China that has provided copyright protection to work done by AI.But what does it indicate (表明) Will AI take the place of creative workers in the future
Probably not. AI is not yet able to write creative stories. The news report mentioned above is mainly about data (数据).
Ⅱ、阅读理解
Since AI isgoodatdealingwithdata, itisoftenusedtowritefinancial(金融的) reports. Some newspapers also use AI to report on stories about natural disasters, which mainly require basic facts such as “where” and “when”. As Forbes wrote, instead of losing their jobs, reporters can make their work more efficient (高效的) by using AI so that they can focus more on story-telling and less on numbers.
AI is actually being helpful in many creative fields. For example, Wayne MeGregor, a British choreographer (编舞), is famous for using AI to create new dances. For him, AI is a powerful tool that can help choreographers break out of common movements. MeGregor is not worried that AI might replace human artists. “AI can’t judge(判断)the quality of the choreography ,” he said.

How Will Artificial Intelligence Change Our Life
Artificial intelligence is developing more quickly than before. It will change our life in many ways in the future.
To begin with, we needn’t do housework any more. The robot can wash the dishes, clean the floor and even help us do some dangerous and heavy work. Besides, the artificial intelligence could be a search engine. When we have any question, just ask it and it will give us the suitable answer. What’s more, we won’t go to school but only stay at home tostudy. AI teachers can help with our school work.
I think the age of artificial intelligence will come sooner or later.
THANK YOU !
