What are modal verbs (情态动词)
定 义
用于表达说话人的态度，情感，能力，语气(如推测，请求，许可）等。
用 法
有一定的词义。
后接动词原形。
无人称和数的变化。
情态动词没有第三人称单数形式，不受主语限制，均用原形。
变否定和疑问：
变否定句时，情态动词后直接加not;
变疑问句时，直接把情态动词提前。
常见情态动词
can, could, should, may, must
不能单独作谓语，需后接实义动词原形一起作谓语。
