You are what you eat, as a saying goes. This is really true for the giant panda. What pandas eat has a big influence on many different parts of their lives.
1 This is because pandas mostly eat bamboo, which is very poor in nutrition (营养) and difficult to take in. Since 99% of a panda’s food is bamboo, so pandas also have really small babies because of their food. Baby pandas are born helpless and tiny. 2 No other mammal’s (哺乳动物) babies are born so much smaller than their mother or father. This, too, baby pandas grow quickly. 3
