Daniel is reading an article about Zhalong Nature Reserve.
Listen and read.
Zhang Nature Reserve is in Heilongjiang Province in the north-east of China. It is one of the world’s most important wetlands. The area provides food and cover for a lot of wildlife. It is home to some rare birds. For example, about 40% of red-crowned cranes live in Zhalong.
Many birds live in Zhalong all year round, while some go there only for a short stay. Most birds are active in the daytime, so you can easily watch them there.
Some people want to make the wetlands smaller in order to have more space for farms and buildings. This will lead to less space for wildlife. Moreover, if fishermen keep fishing there, the birds will not have enough food to eat. Now
the Chinese government has made laws to prevent all these things in Zhalong.

Wetlands are really important for wildlife. We should try our best to protect wetlands.
There are two main problems for wetlands today. First, people use the land for farms and buildings. Another problem is caused by tourists. As people move through wetlands, they may bring trouble to the animals there or harm the plants.
To help solve these problems, governments can take action by creating laws to stop people from building on wetlands. Governments can also make laws to reduce the number of tourists visiting wetlands and make sure visitors do no harm while they are there.
Local communities should also work together to help protect wetlands. They can set up volunteer groups to help keep wetlands free from pollution and make sure tourists are careful when they visit. They can also plant wetland trees. These trees can attract more birds, animals and insects to keep the ecosystem balanced.
