辨析: take place与happen
take place 发生;出现;举行 一般指有计划、有预谋地“发生”
happen 发生;碰巧 一般用于偶然或突发性事件
注意:take place 和 happen 都不能用于被动语态。
3.If you are able to attend the event, we will cover all your travel and hotel costs. 如果您能够参加此次活动,我们将承担您所有的差旅和酒店费用。
(1)cost①【名词】费用;价钱;代价
e.g. You should work out the cost carefully for the holiday.
你应该仔细计算假期费用。
②【及物动词】价格为;使损失;使付出努力
e.g. That one mistake almost cost him his life.那一个差错几乎使他丧命。
(2)辨析:cost,spend,pay与take
cost 主语通常是物 sth cost(s)(sb) some money 指花费金钱
spend 主语通常是人 ①spend... on sth ②spend... doing 指花费时间或金钱
pay 主语通常是人 pay some money for sth 指为某物支付金钱
take 主语通常是it It takes sb some time to do sth. 指花费时间
e.g. The dictionary costs 100 yuan.
那本词典的价钱为一百元。
e.g. Do you usually spend all your free time studying
你通常把你所有的空闲时间都用来学习吗
e.g. How much did you pay for the books
你买这些书花了多少钱
e.g. It takes us an hour to do sports every day.
我们每天花费一个小时的时间做运动。

辨析:reply与answer
两者都可用作动词,意为“回答”,但有区别具体如下
reply 指用口头或书面形式回答 作不及物动词时,常与to搭配,reply to...意为“对…作出回答”。作及物动词时,意为“回答;回答说”
answer 是最普通的用语,包括用口头、书面或行动回答 既可作及物动词,也可作不及物动词
