一.Learning Objectives
1. Language Ability
In daily communication and classroom activities, students will be able to correctly use the learned
vocabulary and sentence patterns to clearly express information about the locations of school
places and objects, with generally accurate pronunciation and intonation.
2.Cultural Awareness
Explore Peter’s perspective on his new school, discuss what you enjoy doing at school, summarize
your favorite places in the school and the reasons, and share them with the class to enhance the
awareness of caring for the school.
3.Thinking Quality
During group discussions and problem-solving activities, stimulate students’ innovative thinking,
encourage them to propose unique insights, and develop critical thinking skills.
4. Learning Ability
Be able to observe and identify the formal characteristics of emails, understand the content
structure and basic format of emails, and use learned adjectives to describe and introduce one’s
own school.
二.Teaching Key Points
1.Vocabulary and sentence patterns related to information about the school environment, locations
of places, activities conducted, and feelings; the content structure and basic format of emails.
2.Analyzing and evaluating different viewpoints, and explaining the reasons.
三.Teaching Difficult Points:
1. Accurately and completely retelling the text content based on structured knowledge.
2. Introducing one’s understanding and appreciation of the school from multiple dimensions, and
formulating written expressions.
四.Teaching Process
Step 1. Lead-in (4 minutes)
1. Warm-up: Greet students. Enjoy a video about our school and move on to today’s topic.
2. Listen and Guess:
(1) Ask students to guess the name of each place in English. After students guess correctly, teach
the pronunciation and spelling of the words (dining hall, classroom, library, sports field) and write
them on the whiteboard.
(2) Pair work : Let students talk about their favourite places in the school.
Step 2. Pre-reading (4 minutes)
1. Introduce the Background: Enjoy a video about Peter and tell students: “Our friend Peter will
introduce his new school to us. He wrote an email to his friend Flora. Let’s learn more about
Peter's school.”
2. Skimming Task:
(1) Show Peter’s email on the PPT and ask students to skim the email quickly to answer the
following questions:
① What kind of text is it (It’s an email.)
② Who writes it (Peter writes to Flora.)
③ What is the text about (It’s about Peter’s new school.)
Invite students to share their answers, check their understanding of the basic background of the
email, and guide them to pay attention to the format of the email (sender, receiver, greeting,
closing).
(2) What’s the structure of the email
Step 3. While-reading (12 minutes)
1. Read Paragraph 1 (3 minutes)
(1) Ask students to read Paragraph 1 carefully.
(2) Present three options and ask students to choose which one is Flora’s possible question.
(3) Guide students to analyze the content of Paragraph 1 (introducing the general situation of the
new school) and confirm that the correct answer is A. Explain the meaning of the descriptive
adjectives “beautiful”and “modern”and let students make sentences with them (e.g. “Our school is
beautiful.” “There are modern classrooms in our school.”).
2. Read Paragraph 2 (3 minutes)
(1)Let students read Paragraph 2 aloud
(2) Show a form on the PPT and ask students to fill in the blanks according to the paragraph.
(3)Invite students to present their answers. Emphasize the preposition “next to”for location
description and the adjectives “large, amazing, special”. Let students practice describing the
location of the sports field in their own school (e.g.“The sports field in our school is next to the
library.”).
3. Read Paragraph 3 (3 minutes)
(1)Ask students to read Paragraph 3 independently.
(2) Show a mind map framework on the PPT and ask students to complete it in pairs according to
the paragraph.
(3) Randomly select 2-3 pairs to present their completed mind maps. Explain the preposition
“behind” and the adjectives “big and clean”. Guide students to talk about their own classroom (e.g.
“Our classroom is big and clean. We change seats every month.”).
4. Read Paragraph 4 (3 minutes)
(1) Organize students to read Paragraph 4 in groups
(2) Present three true or false questions and ask students to judge and explain the reasons.
(3) Focus on the preposition “across from” and the adjectives “delicious” and “favourite”. Let
students share their favorite food in the school dining hall (e.g.“My favourite food in the dining
hall is noodles. They are delicious.”).
Step 4. Post-reading (17 minutes)
1. work on 1c: Summary of Adjectives (2 minutes)
(1) Show Peter’s email again on the PPT and ask students to find all the adjectives used by Peter
to describe the school and its places.
(2) List the adjectives on the whiteboard and ask students to match them with the corresponding
nouns.
(3)Let students read the matching results aloud to consolidate the use of adjectives.
2. work on 1d: Group Discussion (3 minutes)
(1)Divide students into groups of 4-5 and ask them to discuss the following questions based on the
email.
(2) Walk around the classroom to help students solve problems in communication. After the
discussion, invite one representative from each group to share the discussion results.
3. work on 2a (3 minutes)
(1)Think about places in your plete the notes.
(2) Let students share their ideas.
4. work on 2b Write a reply about your school. (4 minutes)
(1) Explain email writing elements to students.
(2) Walk around the classroom to help students solve problems when they are writing.
(3) Let students share their ideas and let students vote for their favorite emails.
5. Group work Let’s poem our school. (5 minutes)
(1) show English Poem Examples.
(2) Work in groups to complete the poem “My School”. Each group needs to write 2-3 lines,
following the structure of the examples (focus on school places + vivid descriptions).
(3) Let students share their poems.
Step 5. Summary & Emotional Education ( 2 minutes)
1. What is school
2. The school is our home. My school, my pride!
Step 6. Homework Assignment (1 minutes)
Assign three levels of homework to meet the needs of different students:
1. Level 1 (Basic): Draw a mind map based on the content of Peter's email, including the main
content of each paragraph.
2. Level 2 (Intermediate): Revise the draft of introducing your favorite school place (use the
sentence pattern: “My favourite place in school is... It’s... I love it because... I like to... there.”).
3. Level 3 (Advanced): Make a short vlog to introduce your school, including at least three school
places and their features.
