1 I find Sophie’s post the most interesting. Because it shows a common misunderstanding between British and American English about "first floor". It’s funny that she went to the wrong floor just because of a simple word, and it teaches me to pay attention to regional differences in English.
2 If I heard someone say "had a frog in her throat", I would not take it literally. I would ask them politely for clarification, like "Do you mean Maggie has a sore throat and can’t speak clearly "

参考范文
Last summer,I stayed with a warm British family in London. One day, the host mom,Mrs. Smith, mentioned at lunch,“We’ll have toad-in-the-hole for dinner tonight. It’s my favorite!”
I was really surprised when I heard that.A toad in a hole That sounded so strange!I wasn’t sure whether they really ate toads or if it was just a joke.During the afternoon,I kept thinking about it and even felt a little nervous to have dinner.
When the food was served on the table,to my astonishment, there was no toad at all.Instead, there were delicious sausages wrapped in golden pancake batter.Mrs. Smith saw my confused look and laughed. She explained that “toad-in-the-hole” is a traditional British dish, and the name just comes from the way sausages look like toads in the “hole” of the pancake.
It turned out that I had a funny misunderstanding because of the special dish name.I tasted it and found it really delicious. From that day on,I learned that different cultures have unique expressions, and it’s interesting to find out their real meanings.
