Cambridge refers to the city of Cambridge, located in the east of England. The name of the city comes from a river called the River Cam and the 25 bridges built on it. In the centre of Cambridge is one of the world's well-known and respected universities---University of Cambridge. As a university founded in 1209, it is the fourth oldest universities in the world still teaching.The university made up of 31 independent colleges has more than 120 Nobel Prize winners. Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin,Steven Hawking ... all graduated from the university.

The legend of the Mathematical Bridge
At the back yard of Queen's college,you will find yourself attracted by an ancient bridge, the Mathematical Bridge. It was said that the bridge was designed by Newton, and he had the bridge built without using a single nail. Some students were curious about it, and got the bridge taken apart to see how it was built. But they failed to make the bridge the same. So they used nails to link the parts. Actually, Newton died in 1722, and the bridge designed by William Etheridge (a famous bridge designer) was built in 1749 by James Essex.

Newton's apple tree
Walking by the Trinity college, we (发现自己感到惊讶）by the large number of visitors. Then we

Actually, this growing apple tree started life as a grafted cutting (移植的插条） (take) from Newton's garden at his home Woolsthorpe Manor. In the late summer of 1666, that tree made Newton question the nature of gravitation (引力). Generations of the Woolerton family cared for the tree. Sadly, in 1816 despite their best efforts, they (让树被风给吹倒了)in a storm. Surprisingly, this tree is still growing at Woolsthorpe Manor today and now is over 400 years old.
