基本简介
联合国（英文名称：United Nations，缩写UN）是1945年第二次世界大战后成立的国际组织，是一个由主权国家组成的国际组织，在1945年10月24日在美国加州旧金山签定生效的《联合国宪章》标志着联合国正式成立。联合国致力于促进各国在国际法、国际安全、经济发展、社会进步、人权及实现世界和平方面的合作。联合国现在共有193个成员国，总部设立在美国纽约，这块领土的所有权已经不属于美国以及任何一国，而是世界上唯一的一块"国际领土"。在美国纽约市曼哈顿区的东侧，可以俯瞰东河。
联合国官方正式使用的语言只有6种，按英文字母顺序为阿拉伯语、汉语、英语、法语、俄语、西班牙语。6种语言同等有效，代表们发言时可以任意选用其中一种。秘书处日常使用的工作语言则是英语和法语，但实际上英语使用最为广泛。联合国在维护世界和平，缓和国际紧张局势，解决地区冲突方面，在协调国际经济关系，促进世界各国经济、科学、文化的合作与交流方面，都发挥着积极的作用。
联合国是目前世界上代表性最广泛、最有权威的综合性国际组织。联合国的作用（宗旨）是：①维持国际和平与安全；②发展各国之间的友好关系；③促进国际合作，以解决国际间经济、社会、文化和人道主义性质问题，并促进对于人权和基本自由的尊重。

联合国大会 可以像成员国决议非强制性建议，或向联合国安理会提建议根据联合国安理会提议吸收新成员预算选举联合国安理会成员国、联合国经社理事会成员、根据安理会提议选举联合国秘书长、国际法院法官。
联合国秘书处 行政支持其他联合国机关主席 - 联合国秘书长 - 由联合国大会选举，是联合国最重要代表有联合国总部、联合国日内瓦办事处，联合国内罗毕办事处，和联合国维也纳办事处。
国际法院 解决争端15法官由联合国大会选举只针对国家，不管国际组织
联合国安全理事会 负责世界和平和安全联合国最有权的机关，发表联合国安全理事会决议（强制性）决定维和、禁运等15成员：5个联合国安全理事会常任理事国有 否决权,10联合国安理会成员国。
联合国经济及社会理事会 经济和社会问题合作有众多功能委员会和其他专门机构协调54成员，由联合国大会选举
联合国安全理事会常任理事国是联合国安全理事会中的五位创始成员国，分别是：中华人民共和国、美利坚合众国、俄罗斯联邦、法兰西共和国、大不列颠及北爱尔兰联合王国。
