英语中，在词和词、短语和短语、句子和句子之间起连接作用的词叫连词。

but意为“但是”， 表示转折关系，连接意义相反或相对的词或句子。
eg: IT is useful but difficult.
信息技术很有用，但是很难。
I like eating apples but my brother doesn’t like eating them.
我喜欢吃苹果，但是我弟弟不喜欢吃。
because意为“ 因为”，引导原因状语从句，陈述原因或理由。可用来回答 why引导的特殊疑问句。

注意：在英语中，because和so不能同时在一个句子里使用。
