重音(Stress)
重音是指在音节发音时所用的力度,是一个相对概念。在一个单词或句子中,可能出现一个或几个音节或单词比其他音节或单词读得更重,它们被称为单词重音或句子重读。
1.单词重音(Word stress)
(1)单音节词单独出现时一律重读,不必标出重音符号,如go, book, sit等。
(2)双音节名词的重音一般在第一个音节上;双音节动词的重音一般在第二个音节上。如bro-ther [' br (r)], ap-ple [' pl], let-ter [' let (r)], ad-vise [ d' va z]。
(3)三音节、多音节词重音在倒数第三个音节上,如favourite [' fe v( )r t]、anniversary [ n ' v s ri]、interesting [' ntr st ]。
(4)多音节词除了有主要重音外,还有一个次要重音。次要重音一般都在主要重音向前倒数第二个音节上,如impossibility[ m p s ' b l ti]、afternoon [ ɑ ft (r) 'nu n]

go to the library 去图书馆
go home 是动词短语,home在此处作副词,意为“到家”,因此home 前不能加任何介词或冠词,类似的用法还有here 和there。

在英语中,部分词组中名词前有无冠词意思会有所不同。例如:
