Are electric cars really “green”
and Share
Example:
Are electric cars really “green”
Electric cars run on electricity and they don’t burn gasoline at all; therefore they don’t emit CO2, thus creating “zero emission” (零排放).
Although driving an electric car does not cause any air pollution, the pollution mainly comes from the production of its battery and the electricity used to keep it running. The production of the electric batteries requires lithium (锂). A large amount of energy is used on mining and processing this metal. Meanwhile, the electricity by which electric cars are powered is mainly from burning coal or gas. All of these contribute to carbon emissions. Consequently, electric cars aren’t really green.
Therefore, it’s better to use public transportation and travel in an environmentally friendly way.
