How much do you know about the Chongqing terror bombing
After Wuhan was occupied by the Japanese forces in October 1938, all the party, government and military agencies of the Nationalist Government were relocated to Chongqing. Chongqing became the wartime capital and the political, economic, military and cultural center of China's rear area, and thus became an important military target for the invading Japanese forces.
After October 1938, Japan abandoned its strategy of quick victory and instead adopted a policy of mainly political inducement and secondary military attack towards the Nationalist Government. The extensive bombing of Chongqing became the concrete action to implement this strategic adjustment.
