Unit 3 Attributive Clause
定义：
一个句子作定语修饰主句中的某个成分（名词或代词）这个句子叫作定语从句（一般放在所修饰的词之后）。
The books which are on the desk are mine.桌子上的书是我的。
She is a lovely girl who has long and brown hair.她是一个有着长长的棕色头发的可爱女孩。

定语从句的三要素:
先行词、关系词、关系词代替先行词在从句中作成分。
The books which are on the desk are mine.
桌子上的书是我的。 are mine.

eg.
The man ( whom I met yesterday ) is a doctor.

eg.
The girl (whose hair is very long) is a famous writer.

4. which: 指物，在定语从句中作主语或宾语。
eg.
Basketball is a game ( which is popular in the world).
篮球是世界上受欢迎的一种运动。
The mp5 ( which my father gave me ) is very expensive.
我父亲给我的mp5非常贵。

关系代词：
5.that: 既可指人也可指物，作主语或宾语，作宾语可以省略。指人相当于who,whom ;指物相当于which。
eg.
The girl ( that is sitting under the tree)is a good runner.
正坐在树下的女孩是一名好运动员。
The news ( that he told me yesterday ) is true.
他昨天告诉我的消息是真的。

who 指人，在定语从句中作主语，不能省略
whom 指人，在定语从句中作宾语，可省略
which 指物，在定语从句中作主语或宾语
that 既可指人也可指物，作主语或宾语，作宾语可省
whose 既可以指人也可以指物，在定语从句中作定语

1. when: 先行词是表示时间的词，且在从句中作时间状语。
eg.
May 1st is the day when I met you ten years ago.
十年前我遇见你的那天是五月一日。

2. where: 先行词是表示地点的词，且在从句中作地点状语。
eg.
I like the house where I lived three years ago.
我喜欢三年前我住的那间房子。

He tells me the reason why he left his wife.
