特点1：
情态动词没有人称和数变化。
eg.
I can run.
我能跑得很快。
She can speak Spanish.
她会讲西班牙语。
We can’t wear jeans at work.
我们工作时不准穿牛仔裤。

特点2：
情态动词不能单独使用，后面要跟动词原形。
eg.
I will do my best.
我一定尽力而为。
You must finish the project by Friday.
周五前你必须完成这个项目。

常见情态动词的主要用法
增加前缀，通常可以改变词义，不变词性。
情态动词 含义 例句
can/could 表示能力 I can cook well. 我的厨艺很好。
can/could/may 表示许可 Could I ask you a question
我能问你一个问题吗？
May I come in 我可以进来吗？
must/can/ could/may/might 表示可能性 They can get some reward if they work hard.
如果他们努力工作，就可以获得一些回报。
That must be Jack. He rode his bike today.
那一定是Jack, 他今天骑自行车了。

常见情态动词的主要用法
增加前缀，通常可以改变词义，不变词性。
情态动词 含义 例句
You must clean your shoes tomorrow.
明天你必须清洗你的鞋子。
must/should /need 表示必要性 You should go to bed now.
你应该去睡觉了。
You needn’t do it again.
你没必要再做一次这事。

注意.
need和dare既可以作情态动词，又可以作实义动词。
eg.
You needn’t finish that work today.
你不必今天做完这项工作。（情态）
She needs to get some sleep.
她需要睡会觉。（实义）
I daren’t tell her the truth.
我不敢对她讲实话。（情态）
He dares to say whatever he wants to say.
只要他想说，他就敢说。（实义）
