Reflecting Philosophical Ideas
Start of Autumn (立秋): People traditionally "get the autumn fat" by eating meat to build up energy for the coming colder months.
The Major Cold (大寒): As the last Solar Term, people follow the custom of eating "Labazhou" (laba porridge) to celebrate and stay warm.
The Winter Solstice (冬至): As the article implies, it is a time for family reunion. People in northern China eat dumplings, while those in the south eat tangyuan.
Pure Brightness (清明): This Solar Term is also the Tomb-Sweeping Day, a time for people to remember their ancestors and go for spring outings.
The 24 Solar Terms teach us the importance of living in harmony with nature.
They show the ancient Chinese wisdom of careful observation of the sun, moon, and weather.

In December, the average temperature in Moscow, Russia is usually below zero degrees. There is a lot of snow, and the weather is cold, wet and windy. The city is quite dark at the start of winter with only about six or seven hours of daylight every day.
In Shanghai, China, the average temperature in December is a few degrees above zero. Because it is next to the sea, Shanghai does not get very cold. Winter in Shanghai can be quite wet. It often rains but seldom snows.
In Cairo, Egypt, December is a winter month, but it is not cold with an average temperature above 10°C. The weather is often pleasant, but it is usually cloudy.
December is a summer month in Sydney, Australia. It usually has an average temperature above 20°C, but it is sometimes much hotter. The weather is great. On average, there are about nine hours of sunshine every day and not much rain.

Good morning and welcome to World Weather Today.
We start in Moscow on a cold and snowy December morning. The temperature is -10℃ to -5 ℃, so wear lots of warm clothes when you go outside.
Next, we head over to Shanghai on a sunny morning. The temperature is 7℃ to 9℃, and there's a cool wind, so wear a light scarf!
Now we move to bright and sunny Cairo, The temperature is 14℃℃ to 16℃, so it's fine to wear a light jacket.
And finally, it's an unusual day in Sydney because it's raining. It's still hot with a temperature of 26 ℃ to 29 ℃, but you’ll need your umbrella if you go outside.
That's it. Have a great day!

Discussion
How should we protect ourselves in bad weather
First, we should always check the weather forecast before going out.
If the weather is bad, we'd better stay indoors.
If we have to go outside, we need to wear warm clothes.
Also, we must be careful on the road. For example, we should walk slowly on icy streets.
Finally, it's a good idea to have an emergency kit at home with a torch, water, and some food.
