Learning objectives
In this lesson, we will be able to:
Understand and use key vocabulary related to volunteering, such as "volunteer", "elderly", "animal shelter", "rubbish", etc., and master sentence patterns about expressing volunteering plans and feelings.
Improve their listening comprehension ability to extract key information about volunteering activities, and be able to express their own ideas and experiences about volunteering in oral English by working in pairs.
Cultivate students' awareness of social responsibility and a spirit of dedication, making them realize the significance of volunteering in helping others and making the community a better place, thus inspiring their enthusiasm for participating in volunteer activities.

help out意为 “帮助摆脱（困境）；协助”
Point
用法：
help out单独使用，后不接宾语，强调 “帮忙” 的动作
help out + 宾语（人），表示 “帮某人的忙”
例句：
My neighbor always helps out when I'm in trouble.
（当我遇到麻烦时，我的邻居总是帮忙。）
Can you help me out I can’t carry this box.
（你能帮我一下吗？我搬不动这个箱子。）

Point
用法：
用于一般现在时等时态中，常置于句末。
例句：

on the side of...表示 “在……的一侧”。
Point
用法：
on the side of + 名词
例句：
There are many trees on the side of the road.（在马路边上有很多树。）

（小男孩坐在水池边看别人游泳。）
look up表示 “查阅；查找（信息、资料等）”，宾语为代词时，需置于 look 和 up 之间；宾语为名词时，可置于 look 和 up 之间或 up 之后。

（我不认识这个新单词，所以我在词典里查了它。）
He is looking up some information about voluntary work on the internet.
