If you make multiple trips to China every year, a 10-year visa can be a convenient option to consider. Let’s take a closer look at what it is and how you can apply for one.
What Is a 10-Year Visa
A 10-year visa doesn’t permit you to stay in China for an entire decade; instead, it means that your visa remains valid for ten years. This type of visa allows short stays for tourists or business visits. The duration of each trip varies from 30–120 days based on your nationality and the purpose of your visit.
Reasons to Get a 10-Year Visa for China
1. Convenience: If you frequently travel to China for work or family purposes, having a 10-year travel visa can save you time and trouble by avoiding the need for a visa application process for each trip.
2. Cost-effective: For US citizens, the cost of a 10-year visa is the same as that of other short-term visas. Paying the $140+ fee just once will cover your visa expenses for the next ten years.
How to Apply for a 10-Year Visa
1. Download the visa application form and fill it out.
Note: when filling out the application form, please select the “10-Year Visa” option.
2. Submit your documents.
3. Pay the visa application fee and collect your visa.
What Documents Do You Need to Apply for a 10-Year Visa
- An original passport valid for six months with blank side-by-side visa pages.
- A completed visa application form.
- A recent passport photograph.
- Proof of a round-trip flight ticket booking record and hotel reservation.
21. How long can a 10-Year Visa holder stay in China for each trip
A. 10 years. B. 30 months. C. 4 months. D. 140 days.
22. What can we learn about applying for a 10-Year Visa
A. It is a good choice for frequent visitors to China.
B. There is no nationality restriction at all.
C. It is unnecessary to state the reason.
D. There is a fee per travel to China.
23. How can an applicant obtain application forms

If you’re like me, patience is a virtue that doesn’t come without effort. It takes a lot of practice, and I’m devoting a year to the pursuit. Patience is my word for 2022. Maybe you’ re still trying to settle on yours, and I’d love to hear about it.
I picked patience one Saturday after my daughter Evie had pressed the “Can I call you later ” auto reply instead of answering her cell phone. Twice. I’d waited a couple hours in between calls and that was after having texted her first thing that morning just to say hi. Worry built while I cleaned the fish tank, slightly admiring the simple aquatic life.
Evie was a college student, living off campus with three roommates. They looked out for one another, all were smart and careful, and I had no reason to think Evie was in real trouble. But maybe she’d had a spat with one of her friends or was running low on money. Maybe she was drowning in schoolwork. I imagined a million what-ifs. Weren’t cell phones made to put a parent’s mind at ease Evie was going to get a mouthful when she finally found a free minute to tell me that I didn’t need to worry.
I filled the aquarium with fresh water, and my impatience reached the top as well. The fish swam laps in the crystal-clear tank. I wished I were more like these peaceful angels living in the moment. Evie finally called late that night. She was at a party but wanted to catch me before I went to bed. “Sorry, Mom. Today was so busy and great!” I told her that was just what I had imagined. I didn’t mention that I was practicing a whole new way to wait.
24. Why did the author become worried at the beginning
A. Evie’s roommates treated her unkindly. B. Evie forgot to say hello to her as usual.
C. Something went wrong with her fish. D. She couldn’t reach Evie on the phone.
25. What does the underlined phrase “had a spat” in paragraph 3 mean
A. Chatted. B. Shopped. C. Quarreled. D. Played.
26. What do we know about Evie
A. She spent that Saturday with her friends. B. She lived with her classmates in the dorm.
C. She failed to ring back her mom in the end. D. She had trouble returning to school timely.
27. What’s the text mainly about
A. A college student’s busy academic life. B. The importance of patience in daily life.
C. The author’s favorite word for 2022. D. A mother’s deep love for her daughter.
C
Clothing rental is a hot new industry and retailers (零售商) are demanding to get on board in hopes of attracting green shopper.
But is renting fashion actually more environmentally-friendly than buying it, and if so, how much more Journalist and author Elizabeth Cline investigated (调查) this question and concluded that it's not as sustainable as it seems.
Take shipping, for example, which has to go two ways if an item is rented — receiving and returning. Cline writes that consumer transportation has the second largest carbon footprint of our collective fashion habit after manufacturing.
She writes, ''An item ordered online and then returned can send out 20 kilograms of carbon each way, and increases up to 50 kilograms for rush shipping. By comparison, the carbon impact of a pair of jeans purchased from a physical store and washed and worn at home is 33.4 kilograms, according to a 2015 study by Levi's.''
Then there's the burden of washing, which has to happen for every item when it's returned, regardless of whether or not it was worn. For most rental services, this usually means dry cleaning, a high impact and polluting process. All the rental services that Cline looked into have replaced perchloroethylene (氯乙烯), a carcinogenic (致癌的) air pollutant, still used by 70 percent of US dry cleaners, with alternatives, although these aren't great either.
Lastly, Cline fears that rental services will increase our appetite for fast fashion, simply because it's so easily accessible. There's something called ''share washing'' that makes people waste more precisely because a product or service is shared and thus is regarded as more eco-friendly. Uber is one example of this, advertised as ''a way to share rides and limit ear ownership.'' and yet ''it has been proven to discourage walking, bicycling, and public transportation use.''
Renting clothes is still preferable to buying them cheap and throwing them in the dustbin after a few wears, but we shouldn't let the availability of these services make us too satisfied. There's an even better step — that's wearing what is already in the closet.
28. What is Elizabeth Cline's attitude toward clothing rental
A. Approving. B. Unfavorable. C. Objective. D. Enthusiastic.
29. The Uber example in Paragraph 6 indicates that________________ .
A. rental services are on the rise.
B. clothing rental will be as successful as Uber.
C. renting clothes might waste more than expected.
D. renting clothes might make people lose interest in fast fashion.
30. The author suggests that we should________________.
A. give up renting any clothing. B. purchase inexpensive clothes.
C. rent clothes rather than buy them. D. make full use of clothes we've possessed.
11. What is the passage mainly about
A. Clothing rental is a new fashion. B. Clothing rental is retailers' preference.
C. Renting clothes is not that eco-friendly. D. Renting-clothes business is in a dilemma.

Carmakers—including BMW, Fiat, Chrysler and Peugeot—warned that the worldwide semiconductor processor(半导体处理器)shortage will continue. The shortage has affected both production and sales of automobiles(汽车).
Last year, carmakers had to shut down plants because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now they have to compete with the consumer electronics industry for the limited supplies that were also affected by the health crisis. Automobiles have become increasingly dependent on processors, also known as chips(芯片). They are needed for computers to help engines with better fuel economy and assist drivers in emergency braking. Without a good supply of chips, carmakers have centered production on higher-profit models. The higher prices keep their businesses going even though they are selling fewer cars.
Richard Palmer is the chief financial officer of Stellantis. The company sells cars under 14 brands including Fiat, Chrysler and Peugeot. He said the company did not expect chip supply to improve before the last three months of the year. That would mean a production loss of around 1.4 million vehicles for 2021.
BMW, so far, has been less affected by the chip shortage than others. That is because of its strong relations with its suppliers. But the German carmaker warned that there will be more problems during the second half of this year.“The longer the supply bottlenecks last, the more tense the situation is likely to become,”BMW chief financial officer Nicolas Peter said in a statement.“We expect production restrictions to continue in the second half of the year. Those restrictions will cause a lower number of sales,” he added.
German chip-maker Infineon Technologies confirmed the shortage. The company said the latest wave of COVID-19 cases slows the production of materials in Asia. And the amounts of goods available have now hit all-time lows. Reinhard Ploss is the Chief Executive Officer of Infineon. He told economists that sharply limited supplies are hurting the recovery of worldwide car markets. He observed that “it will take time to get back” to a balance between supply and demand.“In our view, this will take until well into 2022,”he added.
How do carmakers deal with reduced sales
A. By improving production technology.
B. By selling cars with lower fuel consumption.
C. By offering better emergency braking systems.
D. By producing high-priced cars.
33. Why does the author mention Richard Palmer and Nicolas Peter
A. To stress the seriousness of the present situation.
B. To provide a solution to the reduced sales.
C. To convey their expectation of the car production.
D. To highlight the importance of chips for carmakers.
34. What’s Reinhard Ploss’ attitude towards car production and sales
A. Hopeful. B. Indifferent. C. Worried. D. Skeptical.
35. What is the best title of the passage
A. The Decline of Car Sales.
B. Chip Shortage and its Influence.
C. The Restrictions of Production.
D. The Balance between Supply and Demand.
