It was in the 12th century BCE. Paris was a young prince from the city of Troy and he was the son of the Trojan king. One day, he decided to visit the Greek city of Sparta, so he got on a ship and sailed there with his men.
Queen Helen and the King of Sparta welcomed Paris. Later at a dinner, Queen Helen and Paris fell in love with each other. The King of Sparta had to go away from Sparta for a few days. After he left, Paris took Helen to his ship. His men also stole a lot of gold from Sparta. They sailed back to Troy, and the people of the city welcomed them.
Tapescript
The King of Sparta was very angry, so he asked many other Greek kings to help him fight Troy. Many Greek ships carried the large Greek army across the sea. They wanted to get Helen back and punish the Trojans. This was the beginning of the Trojan War. The war lasted for about 10 years. It finally ended when the Greeks captured the city by using the Trojan Horse.
Several centuries later, different stories about the Trojan War were written down. Many of these stories are still very famous today.

Acting out the play
In stressed syllables, the pronunciation of the vowels is clear and long. The pronunciation of the vowels in unstressed syllables is unclear and short. This adds rhythm to words and sentences when we speak.
Rhythm (strong and weak sounds)
节奏(重读和弱读)
在重读音节中,元音的发音清晰且长。非重读音节中元音的发音不那么清晰且短。在我们说话时,重读和弱读会给单词和句子增添节奏感。
Listen and repeat. Pay attention to the rhythm of each sentence. Make the underlined vowels strong and the dotted vowels weak.
(1) There’s a huge wooden horse outside the city.
(2) At night, all the Trojans celebrated in the main square.
(3) For ten years, the Greeks could not capture the city by
fighting.
