现在分词表示正在进行或习惯性的动作；过去分词表示被动或完成意义；不定式表示动作尚未发生。
3.有些动词-ing形式已经转化成形容词,常做定语用来修饰物,表示“令人……”。常用的此类词有:exciting,amusing, amazing,astonishing,shocking,puzzling,confusing, disappointing,discouraging,pleasing,striking,boring,tiring, touching,moving,interesting,satisfying,terrifying,frightening等。
That must have been a terrifying experience.

This dog is frightening.
这条狗令人害怕。(说明狗的特征)

动词-ing形式做表语注意事项:
1. 不定式做表语强调的是具体的、将要发生的、一次性的动作;动词-ing形式做表语强调的是抽象的、经常发生的、一般性的动作。
His job is to paint the walls.
他的工作是要去粉刷这些墙。
His job is painting walls.
他的工作是粉刷墙。
(3)动词-ing形式做表语和动词用于进行时的区别:动词-ing形式做表语说明主语“是什么”或说明主语的特征。当动词-ing形式用于进行时时,说明主语正在发生的动作。
She is taking care of the children.
她在照料小孩。(进行时态:说明她正在执行的动作)
Her job is taking care of the children.
她的工作是照顾小孩。(动词-ing形式做表语:表示主语的特征)
