林巧稚是中国妇产科学的“开山鼻祖”,亲手接生5万多个婴儿,包括杂交水稻之父袁隆平!傅作义小儿子、冰心及梁思成的孩子等,都经她之手来到人间。她首创脐静脉换血法治愈新生儿溶血症,还主编《妇科肿瘤》等医学巨著,被称为“中国医学圣母”。

5 岁时母亲因宫颈癌离世,这让小林巧稚立志学医。1929 年从北京协和医科大学毕业后,当时协和医院留院条件苛刻,规定结婚、怀孕、生育就自动解约,可她还是毫不犹豫地留下,放弃恋爱、选择单身,将全部精力投入妇产科事业。
