You cannot make sense of your life by looking forward, because the future has not happened yet, and the meaning of future events is therefore uncertain. However, once future events have occurred, you may be able to see how they fit into the pattern of your life.
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”
Things which you did not expect to be important may turn out to be very important. Everything will work out in the end, and your life will make sense and have meaning.
