As long as she can remember, Khadijah has floated from shelters to parks to motels along the West Coast with her mother, never in a permanent residence for more than a few months. She has attended 12 schools in 12 years. She was used to the teasing of students at a dozen schools who labeled her as “different”. “I have felt the anger at having to catch up in school…I was bullied because they knew I was poor, different, and read too much,” she wrote in her college essays.
However, academics proved to be a way for her to find confidence in herself again. Khadijah was in third grade when she first realized the power of test scores, placing in the 99th percentile on a state exam—that is, only 1% of students across the country tested better than she did. Her teachers marked the 9 year old as gifted, a special category that Khadijah, even at that early age, promised to keep. “I still remember that exact number,” Khadijah said.
And in the 11th grade, when she enrolled at Jefferson High School, she decided to stay put, regardless of where her mother moved. Graduation was not far off and she needed strong college letters of recommendation from teachers who were familiar with her work. This decision meant taking a bus each morning at 4 a. m. and not getting home until 11 p. m. She kept her grade point average at just below 4.0 while participating in the Academic Decathlon (十项全能), the debate team and leading the school's track and field team.
Her hard work paid off when she poured the story of her life into her Harvard University college application—and she was accepted. Now a successful student at Harvard, Khadijah continues to use the lessons of her extraordinary life to help and inspire other students.
1. What did some of Khadijah's classmates think of her
A. She was optimistic. B. She was distinctive.
C. She was distinguished. D. She was considerate.
2. What helped Khadijah to gain confidence
A. Her different personality. B. Her ability to live well alone.
C. Her excellent performance in study. D. Her fellow students' encouragement.
3. Why did Khadijah determine to stay at Jefferson High School
A. She had to stay where her mother moved.
B. She was tired of keep moving from place to place.
C. She wanted to participate in the Academic Decathlon.
D. She wanted to make preparations for applying to universities.
4. What can we learn from Khadijah's story
A. Actions speak louder than words.
B. Good things come to those who wait.
C. Nothing is impossible to a willing heart.
D. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

根据文章第二段中的“However, academics proved to be a way for her to find confidence in herself again.(然而,事实证明,学术是她重新找到自信的一种方式。)”

Graduation was not far off and she needed strong college letters of recommendation from teachers who were familiar with her work.
根据文章第三段中的“This decision meant taking a bus each morning at 4 a. m. and not getting home until 11 p. m. She kept her grade point average at just below 4.0 while participating in the Academic Decathlon (十项全能), the debate team and leading the school's track and field team.(这个决定意味着她每天早上4点就要乘公交车上学,晚上11点才能回家。她在参加学术十项全能、辩论队和领导校田径队的同时,保持了接近4.0的平均成绩。)”,以及最后一段中的“Her hard work paid off when she poured the story of her life into her Harvard University college application—and she was accepted.(她的辛勤努力得到了回报,当她将自己的人生故事写入哈佛大学的申请材料中时,她被录取了。)”
