Anti-inflammatory(抗炎的) foods to eat to reduce pain
Foods you eat can play a powerful role in reducing inflammation. Research shows that daily foods are loaded with natural compounds(化合物) that help ease pain, protect against disease, and keep your body running smoothly. Here are some of the inflammation-fighting foods worth adding to your plate.
Dark chocolate
Yes, you read that correctly. Dark chocolate contains chemicals and anti-oxidants(抗氧化物) that help fight inflammation. According to a large Italian study, people who ate about one square of dark chocolate every three days had significantly lower measures of a protein associated with inflammation than those who ate no chocolate at all.
Green and black tea
Tea is rich in anti-oxidants called flavonoids, which may help protect cells from damage that can worsen conditions like arthritis(关节炎). It also contains compounds that fight inflammation, making green tea a great choice to your morning coffee. Both green and black teas come from the same plant — the differences are in where they’re grown and how they’re processed.
Soy protein
Research has shown that people with arthritis, especially men, who consumed 40 grams of soy protein per day for three months experienced less pain and improved mobility compared with those who didn’t. While it’s difficult to get that much soy protein from food alone, adding a serving of soybeans, tofu, or soy milk is still worthwhile.
Avocados
Although the window for perfect ripeness is small, avocados are highly recommended — they’re packed with pounds such as carotenoids and tocopherols help fight inflammation and may even lower cancer risk. Interestingly, research suggests that the healthiest part of an avocado is often the part that gets deserted.
21. What will be the result of eating dark chocolate
A. It makes you get fatter and fatter. B. The more you eat it, the better.
C. It can help build bones and muscles. D. A certain regular amount is beneficial.
22. If you feel less mobile, which food is advisable
A. Dark chocolate. B. Green and black tea. C. Soy protein. D. Avocados.
23. What do green tea and avocados have in common
A. Both are difficult to grow and ripen in gardens.
B. Both contain chemicals that can fight inflammation.
C. Without them, people would get sick more easily.
D. Both of their best part is unwisely thrown away.
B
When I first sat down to write my will (遗嘱), I expected it to be a simple act of paperwork, a practical task that adults are supposed to complete. Instead, it pulled me into an unexpected spiral of reflection. What do I truly want to leave behind What traces of my life will matter when I am no longer here
The questions felt heavy but they carried a hidden gift. Writing about my possessions made me think not of objects, but of people—my children, my partner, my friends. Suddenly, I saw how every choice I make is connected to love. The books on my shelves, the photographs on the wall, even the recipes in my kitchen are not just things; they are extensions of care, memory, and joy.
In the middle of this process, I recognized that a will is less about death than about life. It is about pausing long enough to notice what I value most. The act of writing forced me to define the essence of what I hope my family remembers: not money or furniture, but kindness, curiosity, and the laughter we shared.
I felt lighter after finishing the document. Instead of fear, I carried gratitude. I saw my life not as incomplete but as perpetual, filled with small opportunities to live with intention. If facing death teaches anything, it is that the present moment is our most generous gift. Every day, I can choose to pass on patience, love, and courage.
What began as a legal form turned into a reminder: life is fragile, but it is also abundant. And if I am mindful, then even in the ordinary rhythm of my days, I am already leaving behind what matters most.
24. What realization did the author have while writing her will
A. Writing a will was easier than she had expected.
B. She owned more valuable property than she thought.
C. Objects in her life were deeply tied to people and memories.
D. Her family members were not interested in material possessions.

A. She avoided thinking about it. B.She feared it even more than before.
C. She decided never to discuss it again. D.She became calmer and more grateful.
26. What does the underlined word “perpetual” in paragraph 4 mean
A. Aging B. Dying C. Lasting D. Confusing
27. Which proverb best expresses the main idea of the passage
A. Actions speak louder than words. B. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
C. Love and the present matter most. D. You can’t take it with you when you go.
C
Vacations are being redefined to improve your wellness experiences. The new buzzword is “sleep tourism” and the focus is on ensuring that you rest well at night and actually return from your vacation feeling refreshed.
When away, vacationers traditionally like to make use of every second of the day. They rush from site to site, eat meals at all hours of the day, and treat themselves at night. And when finally returning to their hotel rooms at night, they find it hard to sleep. Besides, downtown hotels may be centrally located, with noisy traffic and flashing city lights pervading (弥漫).Also, many people simply do not sleep well when away from their own beds. All these factors lead to pain, allergies and hormonal issues, making sleep challenging.
“Sleep tourism” addresses these issues and more. Special sleep suites have been thoughtfully designed to offer quiet and darkness. Hotels are investing in artificial intelligence mattresses(床垫)that adjust temperature and have cushions to relieve pressure points. The beds can also track sleep statistics and offer vacationers feedback on their sleep patterns.
Sleep suites are a huge advance in tourism and are now found in wellness hotels around the world. Each offers different ways of inducing sleep, according to Condé Nast Traveler. Many provide a menu of relaxing teas and a tailored bed. No matter which sleep suite you choose, the goal is to sleep well so you can improve your health and well-being. Sinking into a comfortable bed should be the best part of a trip!
The hope is that more hotels adapt to this wellness trend and return to the original purpose of a hotel room, which is sleep! Now you can tour around by day and have sweet dreams by night.
28. According to the text, what is the new tendency in vacationing
A. Party all night. B. Eating at special hours. C. Sleeping well on holiday. D. Rushing from site to site.
29. How do sleep suites improve the sleep experience for guests
A. By serving a wide variety of food. B. By introducing beds with AI technology.
C. By offering in-room entertainment systems. D. By ensuring complete darkness in the rooms.
30. The underlined word “inducing” in Paragraph 4 probably means “______”.
A. promoting. B. preventing. C. causing. D. affecting.
31. What can we infer about the future of hotels from the passage
A. All hotels will have artificial intelligence beds.
B. Traditional hotels will disappear because of “sleep tourism”.
C. More hotels will focus on providing better sleep experiences.
D. Downtown hotels will move to quieter areas to avoid traffic noise.
D
A humorous remark at just the right time can go a long way. Benevolent (善意的) humour helps medical assistants (MAs) cope positively with their stressful working day, according to a new study by the Martin Luther University (MLU) and the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training. The researchers surveyed more than 600 MAs and found that those who preferred light, well-intended humour were more satisfied with their work and received more positive feedback. Dark humour, such as sarcasm (嘲讽), was more likely to have disadvantages.
Medical assistants mostly work in primary health care, especially medical practices. In Germany, becoming an MA requires three years of vocational training. Their daily routine is highly demanding: they handle administrative tasks, take blood samples, and apply wound dressings. “Medical assistants are in very close contact with patients most of the day. They have significant responsibility and experience high stress,” says Julia Raceke, a doctoral researcher at MLU. While humour has long been known to help healthcare workers manage stress, less is understood about the impacts of different humour styles.
The researchers conducted an online survey of over 600 MAs to better understand the relationship between job satisfaction and humour styles. Participants shared their humour preferences and provided information on their workplace well-being and perceived competence.
Results indicated that those who preferred positive, benevolent humour were generally more satisfied with their jobs. These MAs also reported receiving more positive feedback and feeling that they made a greater difference at work. Surprisingly, not all forms of dark humour connected negatively with well-being—satire and irony showed no negative effects. However, cynicism and sarcasm were mostly harmful. Still, the researchers noted that occasional sarcasm among colleagues might help release frustration.
According to the researchers, humour is one of several factors influencing workplace well-being. Using humour consciously and appropriately can make patient interactions more pleasant. The findings may also help develop new training programs to enhance MAs’ social and emotional skills through online tools.
32. What is the main finding of the study conducted by MLU
A. Benevolent humour contributes to MAs’ job satisfaction.
B. Sarcasm is the most effective humour style in healthcare.
C. Humour has no significant effect on workplace well-being.
D. Medical assistants prefer dark humour to benevolent humour.
33. What is the purpose of the second paragraph
A. To present the research findings of the study.
B. To argue for better working conditions for MAs.
C. To compare different humour styles used in healthcare.
D. To provide background information about medical assistants.
34. What can we infer about dark humour from the researchers’ analysis
A. It is completely useless for MAs. B. Its effects vary by specific type.
C. It is widely accepted by patients. D. It is more effective than positive humour.
35. What is the research team’s attitude towards the use of humour
A. They are indifferent as its effects are too small to measure.
B. They see it as a valuable tool that requires careful application.
C. They believe all humour styles should be encouraged equally.
D. They are cautious and think it should be avoided in medical settings.

If many “I forgot we had plans” and “Sorry, I’ve already made plans with someone, maybe next time” pile up, perhaps you will feel unbearable.
______ 37 ______ Maybe we face them directly, or maybe we pull away. As for me, when I pull back from an argument, I try to understand what happened from both sides. Understanding the reasons behind the actions of the other side is an important part of any relationship, even if in your view they’re totally wrong. Mr Smart was famous for his strict rules. In his classroom, even the way students sharpened pencils had to be quiet, desks were always arranged in straight lines, and no one dared to speak without raising a hand. Homework was always checked on time, and playing with phones was strictly forbidden. His students often sighed about how strict he was.
One Monday morning, Mr Smart walked in with a rare smile. “If every one of you passes this Friday’s math test,” he said, “you can make the classroom rules for a whole week.” The room suddenly burst into noise. Some students high-fived each other while others pulled out notebooks to write down ideas. “Really Any rules we want ” asked Lily, eyes wide. “Yes, but only if everyone passes,” he nodded. The students cheered, already dreaming of a week without strict rules.
By Friday, miracle(奇迹) happened. Every student passed the test. Mr Smart clapped loudly, “Great job! Next week, the rules are yours.” The students gathered together, cheering and laughing as they listed their rules — no homework, phones allowed in class, snacks provided by Mr Smart every day, and only games instead of lessons. Seeing the list, Mr Smart just smiled and said, “Let’s try it.”
Monday was like a party. A boy danced to pop music from his phone, girls shared chocolate bars and gummy bears(小熊软糖), and Mr Smart placed a big box of cookies on the teacher’s desk. “This is the best school day ever!” shouted Tom. But by Tuesday, things went wrong. Empty crisp packets littered the floor, desk surfaces were sticky with juice, and half the class looked sleepy as they’d stayed up chatting online or playing games the night before. When Mr Smart tried to suggest a puzzle game, a student yelled, “No! We want to play our own games!”
