Cao Chong Weighs an Elephant
Long ago in ancient China, in the court of King Cao Cao.
Cao Chong (a very clever boy), Cao Cao (his father, a king), Ministers, Soldiers.

A friend sent a giant elephant to King Cao Cao. No one knew how to weigh the huge animal.
Cao Chong had a clever idea. He asked soldiers to lead the elephant onto a big boat in the river. The boat sank down. He marked the water level on the boat's side. Then, the elephant got off. Next, soldiers put stones onto the boat until it sank to the same mark.

Finally, they weighed the stones separately on a scale. The total weight of the stones was the weight of the elephant. Everyone was amazed by Cao Chong's wisdom.

Write a brief introduction to the story together.

Cao Chong Weighs the Elephant happened during the Three Kingdoms time. The main people in the story are Cao Cao and his little son Cao Chong.
One day, a lord sent a very big elephant to Cao Cao as a present. Cao Cao wanted to know how heavy the elephant was. He asked his men to find a way to weigh it. But all his men were stuck—there was no scale big enough for the elephant. Some even said they could kill the elephant and cut it into small parts to weigh. But Cao Cao didn't agree.
Then, 6-year-old Cao Chong had a smart idea. He told people to lead the elephant onto a big boat. They marked where the water reached on the side of the boat. Next, they led the elephant off the boat. Then they put stones on the boat until the water hit the mark again.
Finally, they weighed each stone and added up all the weights. The total weight of the stones was the elephant's weight. Cao Cao and all his men were very surprised by Cao Chong's cleverness.
