(quantity和quantities前可用large，huge,vast等形容词修饰）

un+ v单数
a great /large/small quantity of后主要接不可数名词，但有时也可接可数名词复数，该结构做主语时，谓语动词的数原则上与of后的名词的数保持一致。
quantitative data +定量数据
in quantitative terms 表示“在数量上”，用于对比分析。
例如：There is no difference between the two in quantitative terms
注意事项
与quality区分 ：quantity侧重“多少”，quality侧重“优劣”。例如：quantity of goods vs. quality of goods。
搭配一致性 ：如“quantitative”为形容词时，需搭配名词（如quantitative analysis）；如“quantify”为动词时，需搭配名词（如quantify the data）

注意
a number of与可数、有生命或无生命的名词连用。
如：The President has made a large number of mistakes.总统已犯了许多错误。
a quantity of通常与可数或不可数、无生命的名词连用。
如：A vast/large quantity of imported beer has been sold.已经售出了大量的进口啤酒。
She spent a very large amount of money yesterday.她昨天花了好大一笔钱。
再者，从上面的例句可知，amount,number和quantity的前面经常使用vast,large,small等表示数量大小的形容词来修饰，而这些形容词前面有时还会使用very等程度副词来修饰。不过，要特别注意的是，在这些用法中，large不可用big来替代。

essential：缺一不可，强调必要性（如“水是essential”）；
fundamental：多用于抽象事物，侧重基础性和根源性（如“细胞是生命的基础”）
