4 sense /sens/ n. 感觉;感官(教材P6)

· His explanation makes sense. 他的解释有道理。

achievement 意为“成就”时,是可数名词。是由achieve加后缀-ment 构成的。make achievements 取得成就。
achieve 作及物动词,意为“取得;实现;完成”。后可跟一些抽象名词作宾语,形成动词短语,如: achieve success/ progress/ a goal/one’s dream 等。
由动词加后缀-ment 构成的名词表示行为的结果、过程或机构。
类似构成还有:develop + -ment = development 发展;进步
agree + -ment = agreement 协议,同意
move + -ment = movement 运动;行动
6 rather /'rɑ (r)/ adv. 相当;更准确地说(教材P7)
· It’s rather cold today. Put on your coat. 今天相当冷。穿上外套吧。
· It’s rather a small room./ It’s a rather small room.
那是个相当小的房间。
· It’s not cold. Rather, it’s very hot. 天气不冷,反倒是很热。
· She’s a journalist, or rather, a war correspondent.
她是名记者,更准确地说,是名战地记者。
· She would rather ride her bike to work than drive in the morning traffic. 她宁可骑自行车上班,也不愿在早高峰开车。
rather adv. 意为“相当”,通常用于修饰形容词或副词。有形容词修饰名词时,不定冠词置于rather 前后都可以。
rather 还可意为“更确切地说;相反”,用于提出不同的观点或提供更确切的信息等。
would rather 意为“宁愿”。

suggestion 为可数名词, 意为“建议”。常见搭配:
(1) give/offer sb. some suggestions on sth.

suggestion 的动词形式为suggest,意为“建议”。

advice 为不可数名词,意为“建议”,常用搭配:
(1)a piece of advice 一条建议
(2)ask for sb.’s advice 向某人征求建议
(3) accept/follow/take one’s advice 接受/ 听从/ 采纳某人的意见
辨析:suggestion 与advice
suggestion 可数名词,可直接用a, many 及数词修饰。复数形式为suggestions。 动词形式为suggest。
advice 不可数名词,不能用an,many 及数词修饰,其具体数量应借助于piece 来表示。 动词形式为advise。advise sb. (not) to do sth. 建议某人(不要)做某事。

分析结构:本句为主从复合句,主句为“主谓宾”结构,she 为主语,liked 为谓语,it 为宾语,副词短语so much 为状语,表示liked 的程度。that 引导结果状语从句,表示“她非常喜欢它”的结果。句中“so + 副词+that 从句”结构意为“如此……以至于……”。

“such + (a/an) + 形容词 + 名词 + that 从句”强调名词的“特殊性”导致的结果。根据名词性质的不同,该结构可分为两种情况:
(1)such + a/an + 形容词 + 可数名词单数 + that 从句
(2)such + 形容词 + 可数名词复数/ 不可数名词 + that 从句当名词前有many/much/little/few等表示数量的修饰成分时,修饰该名词短语不用such 而用so。
