Unit 6 Plan for Yourself
Learning objectives
In this part, you will make plans for solving problems.
Lead-in
Today we are all “Campus Problem Detectives”!
Have you noticed any small problems in your class or at school
I find that the trash bin in our
classroom is always full quickly,
and garbage piles up beside it.
It stinks(难闻).
Some books in the school library have bent corners and look old.
It feels not good.
During the morning exercise break, there are always some students fooling around in the line. It’s annoying.
Discuss and Share

always late for school
Some students can’t manage time well.
They like to stay up late and can’t get up on time.
Task
Make plans for solving problem.
4a. Work in groups. Discuss what problems there are in your class
or at school. Then make a list of the problems and the reasons
why they exist.
Problems Reasons Solutions
4b. Write down some plans to solve the problems.
Problems Reasons Solutions
The school dining hall is crowded and messy. Students rush to eat. Dining hall staff can help students find the right line and stop those who try to push in.
There are no clear signs for lining up. Signs like “Line Starts Here” can show students where to stand.
The space gets too full during busy times. Teachers can sometimes remind students that lining up nicely helps everyone.
4c. Prepare a presentation to share your plans with the whole class.
One problem we see is that the school dining hall is crowded and messy. At lunchtime, many students don’t line up properly. Some try to push ahead. Others stand in groups near the food counters. This makes it hard for everyone to get their food quickly.
This happens because students rush to eat, there are no clear signs for lining up, and the space gets too full during busy times.
We have three easy ideas to fix this. First, dining hall staff can help students find the right line and stop those who try to push in. Second, signs like “Line Starts Here” can show students where to stand. Third, teachers can sometimes remind students that lining up nicely helps everyone.
If we follow these steps, the dining hall will be more organized. Students will wait less and enjoy a calmer lunch break.

Skim Reading
Careful Reading
Read the story and answer the questions.
1
1. What did Ant do to get ready for the winter
2. What did Grasshopper do before winter came
In summer the Ant collected corn and took corn home. In autumn, the Ant collected lots of wood to keep warm in winter.
Grasshopper just sang songs, danced, played his violin and enjoyed the sunshine.
3. Why didn’t Grasshopper prepare for the winter like Ant
4. What would happen to Grasshopper based on Ant’s words in
the end
Because he thought the winter was so far away and the preparing work was boring. Grasshopper preferred singing and dancing.
Grasshopper would die in winter because he had no food or fire.
5. What do you think of Ant What about Grasshopper
Ant was smart and hardworking. He planned ahead and prepared for the winter. He stayed very focused and said “no” to fun offers to finish work.
Grasshopper was lazy and short-sighted. He only cared about having fun in the present and had no plans for the future.
Think and Share
Ant refused to help Grasshopper in the end. Do you think this was cruel(残忍的) If you were Ant, would you do the same Why
I think it was/wasn’t cruel because ____________________.
If I were Ant, I would ______________________.
e.g. I think it’s cruel because everyone makes mistakes. Sharing a
little food won’t hurt Ant, but could save Grasshopper! If I
were the Ant, I would help him.
e.g. I think Ant is right because Grasshopper made his choices
and should face the results. If Ant helps him, Grasshopper
would never learn to be responsible...
Write a new ending to the story.
2
And then the cold winter came. ______________________
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
In real life, the Ant and the Grasshopper represent two attitudes:
Work first (Plan ahead, save money, be safe...)
Enjoy first (Have fun now, worry later...)
Which do you prefer Why
Reflection
I want a balance: work hard BUT also enjoy time with friends.
I’m like the Ant because I feel safe when I’m prepared.
I’m like the Grasshopper because life is short—we should be happy!
Thank you!
