三、回答问题(2025·江苏连云港中考改编)
On April 19, the world’s first half-marathon
for humanoid (人形的) robots was held in
Yizhuang, Beijing. Hundreds of people got
together to watch this wonderful event. The
robots waited beside human runners, starting from the same line.
People were excited to see robots run alongside human athletes. They
took photos and recorded this historic moment.
"I saw many robots running. Some were surprisingly fast, others
had very lovely designs, and their running styles were quite different,"
said Zhang Huihui, who took part in the race.
During the 21-kilometer-long race, the robots had to run on two
legs. Some robots wore special shoes to protect their "feet". Others
used AI to adjust (调整) their speed and direction. Each robot was
supported by a team of human guides, operators and engineers. They
could have their batteries(电池) changed during the race. Teams
could even use new robots when the old ones could no longer run.
There were 20 teams in the race and six of them made it to the
end. Tiangong Ultra won the first in two hours and 40 minutes. "It
crossed the finish line about 30 minutes earlier than expected," said
Xiong Youjun, CEO of a robot center. "In general, all the robots today
could deal with challenges such as turns and speed bumps(减速带).
We made history together."
"Robots’ completing the race isn’t the finish line. It’s the starting
point for the growth of the robot industry," said Liang Liang, from
Yizhuang’s Administrative Committee.#1.1.4
Although the robots fell from time to time, the event proved that
they could do real-life tasks. Liang added, "Their small steps today
will become giant leaps(巨大飞跃) for human technological progress
tomorrow."#1.1.5

Imagine that a cool bamboo-like grass can
be used to make green energy. Scientists at
Landuo Biotech, a business in Wuhan, have
created one such plant recently. They name it
"super giant reed" (超级芦竹).
Since 2012, the Landuo team have collected over 1,000 wild giant
reeds for experiments. As a result, more than 40 varieties(品种) of
super giant reed have been "born". In the Landuo’s factory, hundreds
of young reeds are grown in glass bottles. Fully grown, super giant
reeds are cut and put in a special place without O 2 . The Landuo team
heat them up to make natural gas, which can then be used for energy.
Thanks to the scientists’ efforts, super giant reed has a biomass
(生物量) three times that of wild giant reed. A kilogram of super
giant reed also has 4,000 to 4,500 kilocalories (千卡) of energy. So,
super giant reed is a great choice for taking the place of fossil fuels
(化石燃料).
What’s more, growing super giant reed helps a lot. Planting
13,000 hectares(公顷) of it can produce 0.45 to 1.5 million tons of
fuel a year. 40 million hectares of super giant reed can be used
instead of 2.2 billion (1 billion=1,000 million) tons of coal and can
cut CO 2 emissions (排放) by 4 billion tons in China every year.
Super giant reed is also well-suited for growing on some land like
beaches, wetlands and salty lands. Once a reed is planted, it can be
cut and used many times during the next 15 to 20 years. By the end
of 2024, over 3,300 hectares of super giant reed had been planted
across 53 areas in China.
At present, China is developing this new energy source—super
giant reed and we hope that it can help to make our planet cleaner
and cleaner.#7
26.What is the right order according to Paragraph 2 ( )
a.The super giant reeds are cut by the Landuo team.
b.The super giant reeds are heated up to make natural gas.
c.The Landuo team grow lots of young super giant reeds in glass

I was walking along a busy road when I noticed a young man
standing near the crossing selling toys. Usually I would hurry past
such sellers. But I found this young man was blind. I wanted to see
how he sold his things, so I stood for some time without crossing the
street.
Soon, a young mother with a little girl came by and the child set
her eyes on one of the teddy bears. The mother asked about the price
and it was only one dollar. She pulled out a 10-dollar note from her
handbag and told the young man that she was giving him 10 dollars
and wanted the change (零钱) back. I was wondering how he was
going to do it. He told the young mother to put the money in the bag
hanging around his neck and take out her change herself.
I realized that this young man believed people would not cheat
him. There was no way for him to know whether someone would take
out more than they should have. As a 30-year-old man, I was deeply
moved. I bought a model car from him that I didn’t need. As I
walked down the street, I gave the model car to a kid walking with
his father.
I kept thinking that the world would be a better place if we could
all learn to trust each other more, like the young blind street seller.#1.3

The sun hung low. The air buzzed (喧闹)—not with insects,
but with voices and the weight of something about to begin.
Roy’s heart beat like a drum. He looked out at the people
gathering for the pancake house ground-breaking ceremony (仪式).
Under his feet—hidden underground—were the tiny burrows (洞穴)
of the owls(猫头鹰). They asked nothing, made no sound, yet now
heavy machines waited, ready to destroy (破坏) their living area.
He thought of Mullet Fingers, the wild boy who cared about
animals more than himself. He thought of brave Beatrice who helped
even when it was hard. Roy had tried to stay out of trouble. He liked
quiet. But now, staying quiet didn’t feel right.
He stepped up to the microphone (话筒).
“Excuse me,” he said, voice shaking. “Before you dig…you should
know the truth.”
The crowd (人群) grew quiet.
“There are owls living here,” Roy said. “They’re small. They’re
scared. And if you build here, you’ll destroy their homes.”
Someone in the crowd laughed and asked, “How do you know
that ”
“Because I saw them. They live here. They belong here. And they
matter.”
The manager stepped forward, “This is not your business, kid.”
Roy turned to face him. His fear turned into something else—
strength.
“It’s my business. It’s everyone’s business. We can’t just destroy
what we don’t see. Progress should not come at the cost of wonder,”
he said.
His hands stopped shaking. People in the crowd began whispering
(私语). One mother held her child’s hand. Even the manager looked
uncertain.
Roy didn’t know what would happen next. But he spoke the truth.
Roy used to be scared. But doing the right thing made him

As we often use eyes to touch nature,
most of us “lose” the ability to listen to
the world.
Peter writes music. He likes sounds
and uses natural sounds as part of his
music. He often went out to the wild with
his microphone and recorded interesting
sounds to put in movies or to use in his
own songs. Instead of trying to capture just the sound of one animal
or bird, he recorded the sound of everything all together—the animals,
the trees, the wind and the earth. He called these recordings
“soundscapes”—the sound of a certain place. Every soundscape Peter
recorded had a lot of information.
Back in his workshop, Peter used a computer to make a picture
of all the sounds going on in a place. Each animal, bird and insect
had its own place on the picture—its own notes in the music. The
busier the picture, the richer the life in that place. “While a picture
may be worth 1,000 words,a soundscape is worth 1,000 pictures,”
Peter said. “Our ears tell us the sound of every leaf and animal and
speak to the natural sources (来源)of our lives, which may hold the
secrets of love for all things, especially our own humanity.”
But not everything is satisfying. When Peter began recording over
forty years ago, he could record for ten hours and get one hour of
usable material good enough movie. Now, because of human activities,
it can take up to 1,000 hours or more to get the same thing. Some of
the places he has recorded over the years have slowly fallen silent. His
sound pictures show that although nature might look the same to
humans, it has lost part of its orchestra(管弦乐队).#5
So next time you are in the forests, try another way to look—shut
your eyes, and listen.#6
31.What does the underlined word “capture”in Paragraph 2 mean
( )
B
A.Shut. B.Catch. C.Touch.

C
A.The sound of every leaf and animal in nature.
B.The sound recorded in the natural environment.
C.A picture of music with natural sounds in a place.
33.What can we learn from Paragraph 4 ( )
C
A.Recording sounds needs less material.
B.Sound pictures are the same as before.
C.Some beautiful sounds in nature are lost.
34.What does the writer mainly want to tell us ( )
A
A.Nature has wonders to be heard.

kids—now they’re adults, leading the shows themselves,” says Yang
Shaochun, an 85-year-old Peking Opera master.
This weekend, four shows will be put on at Beijing People’s
Theatre. Young wuxi artists will play the lead roles.
Wuxi, or martial (武术的) play, is the base of the fighting and
movement part in Peking Opera. Wei Pengyu, a 29-year-old actor, was
attracted to Peking Opera as a child—not by the music or stories at
first, but by the colorful, amazing facial masks that brought the
characters to life. At 14, he began training in Peking Opera, especially
in wusheng—a male role type. “For me, stepping into the role of a
hero is a dream come true,” he says.
“Playing wuxi isn’t just about action—it’s about expressing the
character’s courage, justice (正义), and strength through movements,”
says Xu Zhouyi, 25, another male actor.
Later that evening, a classic piece San Cha Kou was played by
two young actors, Wu Zeyu and Shu Jiaxing. The viewers were
attracted to the great scene and cheered for the actors’ excellent martial
art movements.#7
Wu and Shu practiced together for nearly a year. “San Cha Kou
is a test of trust between two actors. We have to read each other’s
energy—know when one is speeding up or slowing down. Every
movement must be perfectly counted to avoid real crashes while still
looking dangerous,” says Wu.#8

it, how cool and busy it must have been in the old days!
The Forbidden City is the biggest wooden palace in the whole
world. Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty started to build it in
1406 and finished it in 1420. There are 1,050 buildings and over 8,700
rooms. Each room has something interesting. In the past 600 years, it
went through a lot. There were big fires and scary wars, but it’s still
standing strong today. It’s like an old friend telling us stories about the
past.
In 1925, it became a museum. Now, it has more than 1.86 million
wonderful artworks. You can see very pretty china cups. They show
how good ancient Chinese people were at making things. And there
are also many beautiful paintings. They show nice mountains, rivers

Have you ever heard of the Fibonacci sequence (斐波那契数列)
Let’s take an example: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, … Each number is the sum
(和) of the two before it. As we can see: 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=
5, 3+5=8… and so on! Besides, two numbers next to each other have
a ratio (比率) about 1.618 (like 8+5=1.6), which is called the
Golden Ratio.
According to historical records, Leonardo Fibonacci first wrote
about the Fibonacci sequence in his book Liber Abaci in 1202. The
Fibonacci sequence widely appears in our real world. Here are some
examples of it in nature and arts.
Many flowers have petals (花瓣) in the Fibonacci numbers. For
example, the lily—usually has 3 petals. The rose has 5 and the
delphinium(飞燕草) has 8. The numbers 3, 5 and 8 are part of the
Fibonacci numbers. When bees build their houses, they also follow the
sequence. The number of bee cells (蜂房) in each row often
matches the Fibonacci numbers like 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 …
▲ We know painters like to use special shapes in their paintings.
With the Fibonacci sequence in artworks, artists can create perfect
designs. For example, the famous work the Mona Lisa follows the
Golden Ratio. For musicians, they use the Fibonacci sequence to create
certain musical effects. It is said the Fibonacci sequence can help
control the number of beats in each part. Next time, count the beats in
your favourite song—is it 5, 8 or 13 beats It’s math that makes
music sound great!
The Fibonacci sequence is really useful in our life and it also
helps us to find the secrets around us.#5

A study by Zhengzhou University found that 65%
of sparrows (麻雀) in cities now use plastic waste
to build nests. The research team first collected
information from 15 parks across Henan Province.
Researchers studied 200 bird nests in 10 cities for three
years, recording materials used each season. They discovered that birds
collect plastic bags, bottle caps and even face masks, replacing natural
materials like twigs (细枝) and leaves. Over 80% of plastic came
from food packaging.
Why do birds make this change Dr. Wang, the team leader,
explains, “Plastic is light and lasts longer. In our survey, each bird
needs 20~30 twigs daily, but cities only provide 10~15.” However, this
adaptation brings danger. Lab tests show plastic materials make nests
hotter by 3~5 . Eggs in plastic nests had an 18% lower survival rate
(生存率).
To prove this, scientists built two types of nests: one with plastic
and the other with natural materials. They placed them in a controlled
lab environment. Special tools checked temperatures every 30 minutes.
The plastic nests reached 38°C at noon, while natural nests stayed at
33 . The experiment was repeated 50 times with the same results.
During the experiment, researchers noticed an interesting pattern.
About 30% of sparrows mixed plastic with plants. These “half-plastic”
nests were 2 cooler than full-plastic ones. This suggests birds might
be learning to balance convenience and safety.
Scientists suggest providing clean twigs in parks. In Luoyang
Wangcheng Park, workers put fresh branches near lakes twice a week.
After six months, plastic nests dropped by 40%. Students also made
500 artificial (人工的) twigs from rice straw (稻秆). These small
actions help create safer homes for wildlife.#6

Surfing was more than a sport to the early Hawaiians. It was an
important part of their culture.
③Hawaiians carved (雕刻) surfboards from the wood of special
trees. The first boards were about 3 to 7 meters long and weighed
more than 50 kilos. After World War II, plastic foam (泡沫) board
appeared and the shape improved. Today’s surfboard is about 1.5 to
2.7 meters long and 11 to 26 kilos. It is light and flat, and a tail fin
is fixed downside. Surfboards come in many different styles, including
shortboards, longboards, and funboards.
④Surfing was brought to the Western world in the early 20th

A new study suggests that roosters can
recognize themselves in a mirror(镜子).
Scientists use the “mark test” to test whether
an animal can recognize itself. A mark is put on
an animal. Then the animal is allowed to look in a
mirror. If the animal seems to pay attention to the
mark, scientists believe the animal has recognized
itself.
The skill has mainly been found in animals with large brains, like
dolphins and elephants. Until recently, only one kind of bird had
passed the test.
Scientists recently ran the mark test on roosters. They put a pink
triangle(三角形) on the chests of the roosters. But when the roosters
looked in a mirror, they didn’t seem to notice the mark.
The scientists then needed a different way to test whether the
roosters could recognize themselves.
When there’s danger—like a hawk(鹰) flying above—roosters
make loud calls to warn nearby chickens. But roosters only make the
cries if other chickens can hear them. If they’re alone, they remain
quiet so the hawk won’t see them.
The scientists realized that they could use the shadow(影子) of
a hawk to do tests.
First, the scientists let the roosters spend time being in a closed-in
space and having a mirror around. Then, they ran several tests by
making a hawk shadow appear above a rooster and watching how it
reacted. When there was no mirror, the rooster reacted as usual. It
called out when it was near another rooster(Picture . .▲), but
remained quiet when it was alone. But when a rooster was in a space
where it could see itself in the mirror, it wasn’t fooled into thinking
there was another rooster. It remained silent under the hawk shadow. It
did this even if there was a rooster hidden behind the mirror.
The scientists say the results show that the roosters knew they
were seeing themselves in the mirror, and not other roosters.#2.8

Do you like to keep an eye out for discount
stickers (折扣标签) on food that is close to its
sell-by date Well, they might soon be a thing of
the past, as supermarkets may start using AI to
watch when prices need to be reduced.#2
Some supermarkets in Europe are already using this pricing system,
and have either digital price tags (数字价签) on the shelves, or
high-tech stickers on the products themselves.
The AI system checks if a product is about to expire(到期) on
the shelf before it gets sold and then decides whether to reduce its
price or not. If there is a lot of product left, its price might be greatly
reduced. But if this time of year has been a period of high sales for
this product and it’s likely to sell well now, there might be no
reduction.
Wasteless, an Israeli business organization, is providing this AI
system to many supermarkets in Europe. It says the system can cut
down the food waste in stores by a third. “The system not only stops
food from expiring on the shelves, but also lets supermarkets know
what products are not welcome,” the company said to the BBC.
But while dynamic(动态的) pricing might mean less food waste,
it also might make it difficult for customers to understand how much
the products cost in the beginning. And uncertain prices wouldn’t be
friendly to people who don’t have a lot of money to spend. It could
even make certain products more expensive in certain areas than in
others, if they are in great need.#6

三、回答问题(2025·江苏扬州中考)
Fashion trends (趋势) are around us, and can be exciting. A
trend used to happen in a 20-year cycle, but the latest development of
the Internet and clothing business has increasingly cut the length of the
cycle short. Now, it seems there comes a new fashion trend every
couple of months, but it still follows the same stages:
●A trend is usually first brought in during a big fashion show.
Reporters, writers, and some other important people collect what they
have learned in the show and predict a trend in the near future.
●Then the trend is talked about online and finally worn by
famous people to make it better accepted, which leads to the rise of
the trend.
●Once the trend becomes popular, it will go to the public soon.
Large clothing companies and shops begin following the trend so that
everyone can get their hands on it. This is when the trend gets to the
highest point.
●After that, the trend usually falls and becomes out of date.
However, this is not always the end, as trends happen in broader
cycles and most get popular again.
Trends can be a great way to try something new and test your
style. A survey says some people enjoy following trends because they
keep fashion exciting and provide fresh ideas. However, others may not
think so, especially when a trend doesn’t agree with how they feel
about themselves. Trends can be fun, but sometimes prove a waste of
money because many simply see trends as brands (品牌). So,
should we follow fashion trends
Clearly, there’s no right answer whether to follow trends or not
depends on how they go with your values, spending, and sense of self.
It does not hurt to watch trend reports but never choose to follow
them unless you really think they fit with your personal style.#2.1

For centuries, lacquer fans (漆扇) have been
loved for their beauty. Today, we’ll take a look at the
story behind lacquer fans.
Lacquer fans are special fans from China, and
their history dates back to the Han Dynasty. Later,
lacquer fans became one of the top collections in the
art world during the Tang Dynasty. Lacquer is a natural varnish
(清漆) from the lacquer tree. It was first used for wooden objects
to protect them from water and insects. Over time, workers began to
use lacquer to make and decorate (装饰) fans.
Lacquer fans are made with bamboo or wooden frames (框架).
Traditionally, they are painted with different themes and patterns
(图案), such as flowers and birds, and people, to make them more
beautiful. Although the ways of making fans continue to improve,
workers still use traditional techniques (技艺) to create lacquer fans,
keeping this ancient art alive.
Nowadays, lacquer fan painting is one of the most popular
activities among young people. The process is quite simple. People first
choose the colors they want to use, drop the coloured lacquer into the
water, stir (搅拌) it, put the fans in the water for a while, and then
take them out. And that’s it.#5

四、素养提升(2025·浙江温州中考模拟改编)
Shu embroidery (蜀绣) is one of
China’s four famous embroidery styles—known
for its bright colors and nice stitches (针脚).
It has a long history and is an important part
of Chinese culture. Chen Hongying is a well-
known person who passes down this traditional art.
Chen Hongying’s love for embroidery began when she was a child,
watching her grandmother and mother create beautiful patterns (图案)
with needles and threads(针线). In 2008, she went to Chengdu to
learn Shu embroidery from Master Zeng Xiangfen. She worked hard,
even though her fingers were often hurt by needles. Her strong will
and her love for embroidery made her keep going.
It is true that the way is full of challenges, and Chen has done a
lot of good things. First, she put together the skills of Shu embroidery
and Su embroidery to create a special style. She also created a 3D
embroidery picture of Marshal (元帅) Chen Yi, which took her
seven years to complete. This work used 30 different embroidery
stitches and showed the marshal’s great spirit. What’s more, she began
training hundreds of people in her hometown of Lezhi in 2011, which
helped the local women find jobs. With enough support, she has taken
Shu embroidery to other cities and countries, such as Melbourne,
Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, sharing the beauty of this traditional art
with the world.
Chen Hongying believes that passing down traditional culture is
not just about copying the old ways. “It is not about being a copy
machine,” she says. It’s about understanding the importance of the
tradition and then adding something new to it. She will keep working
on Shu embroidery until she can no longer hold a needle.#5
