Language points
Sometimes my friends and I argue but don’t know how to make up.有时候我和朋友会吵架,但不知道怎么和好。
how to make up :“疑问词+不定式”结构,在句中作宾语(类似结构:what to do / where to go)。
make up :动词短语,意为“和好;和解”(此外还有“编造;化妆”的含义)。
我昨天和姐姐吵架了,想知道怎么跟她和好。
I argued with my sister yesterday, and I want to know how to make up with her.
Some of you may prefer texting, but it takes longer and can make things worse if you’re not careful with your words.你们有些人可能更喜欢发消息,但如果用词不小心的话,(发消息)会更费时间,还可能让事情变得更糟。
prefer doing sth. :“更喜欢做某事”(prefer后接动名词作宾语)。
if引导的条件状语从句 :遵循“主将从现”(此处主句用情态动词 can ,从句用一般现在时 are )。
她更喜欢在家看书,但如果看太久对眼睛不好。
She prefers reading books at home, but it’s bad for her eyes if she reads too long.
be careful with :短语,意为“注意;小心(对待)”。

if引导的条件状语从句(主将从现) :从句用一般现在时( stay, say ),主句用一般将来时( will help )。
