PEP八上 Unit 8 Let’s communicate Period I Section A（1a-Pronunciation)
The analysis of the text Through 1a - Pronunciation, students are introduced to different communication methods, such as face - to - face, text messages, making video/phone calls, sending emails, and sign language. This part lays a solid foundation for further study of the unit, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing about communication. The pronunciation part helps students master the correct pronunciation of relevant words and improves their language sense.
The analysis of students Students are familiar with some common communication methods in daily life, which can help them understand the topic easily.They have already grasped the basic structures of the present simple tense and the simple future tense, which is beneficial for learning "if" conditional sentences in this unit.
Core competences　　　 Through this lesson, ss are able to: 1.master the pronunciation, spelling, and meaning of key vocabulary about communication 2.understand the structure and usage of "if" conditional sentences 3.cultivate students' interest in learning English by discussing the common topic of communication.

Step I Warm up Greetings. Show a short video about people communicating in different ways, like chatting face - to - face, making phone calls, and sending text messages. Then ask students questions. Watch the video carefully and answer the teacher's questions actively. "What communication methods did you see in the video How do you usually communicate with your family and friends " Observe whether students can actively join in answering questions.
Purpose Arouse students' interest and curiosity, and activate their prior knowledge about communication methods
Step II Pre-listening Vocabulary learning. Have ss match the phrases with the pictures. Have ss read the given sentences in 1b and 1c. Students learn the words and finish 1a. To observe whether students can master the information with the given words.
Purpose Let students be familiar with the key vocabulary, and lay a foundation for the following listening and speaking activities.
Step III While-listening 1. Lead ss to listen to the conversation first time and complete the table in 1b. Check the answers with the students. 2. Have ss listen again and answer questions in 1c. 3.Explain the key points in the listening scripts and have students listen again and plete the tasks individually in 1b and 1c, and then listen to the teacher's explanation and correction. Evaluate students' performance in listening, including whether they can accurately capture key information, fill in the table and answer the questions correctly.
Purpose Adapt to the listening materials in English and improve their listening comprehension ability.
Step IV Post-listening Have ss imagine you are phoning a friend from the UK and you want to invite the friend to China. Lead ss to make up a conversation about what you both will do. Practice the conversations in 1d with partners, paying attention to the pronunciation and intonation. Evaluate students' performance in conversations from aspects such as the accuracy of language use,and the expressiveness of acting.
Purpose Improve their oral English expression ability, and at the same time deepen their understanding and application of "if" conditional sentences.
Step V Pronunciation 1. Present sounds on page 73 on the PPT and ask students to listen and repeat the part 1. 2. Have ss listen and notice the linking, stress, intonation and pauses in part 2. Listen and repeat the part 1. Pay attention to the sounds and add one more word to each group. -pl: -bl:-fn: -vn: -kl: -gl: -sn:-zn: -tl: -dl: -tn:-dn: 2.Listen and read the part 2. To evaluate whether ss can master the pronunciation content of this part.
Purpose Improve students' pronunciation ability, let them master the correct pronunciation of some common letter combinations, and enhance their language sense.
Step VI Summary Summarize the key points. Ask students if they have any questions. The teacher guides students to complete the assessment. Students recall the learned knowledge of today and complete the assessment form. Check whether students have a clear understanding of the key content of this lesson.
Purpose Help students form a complete knowledge system and clarify their doubts.
Step VII Homework You must do: Read thelistening scripts on page 99-100. If you can: Write a short passage using if. To help students strengthen the knowledge which they have learned.

Teaching Reflection In the teaching process, the use of videos and pictures can effectively arouse students' interest, but some students may be more attracted by the form rather than the content. In the future, more guidance should be given to ensure that students can focus on the key knowledge.
