Bush fires in Australia
Bush fires hit parts of Australia yesterday. Hot temperatures, no rain and high winds
are increasing the size and power of the
bush fires. The bush fires may burn millions of square metres of land and destroy thousands of homes
before they are put
out. So far five
people are dead,
Including a fireman.
Many animals died too. “The dangers of
bush fires are real. Everyone nearby should stay at home,” said an officer.
What happened in parts of Australia yesterday
Bush fires hit there.
What did the officer advise people nearby to do
Stay at home.
Hot temperature, no rain and high winds are making the bush fires in Australia worse.
Yes. The location, weather and land forms are the main causes of natural disasters. For example, places where earth’s crustal plates meet often have more earthquakes. Areas with heavy rain get more floods. Places near the sea easily have typhoons in summer and autumn.

A tidal wave
I went to the beach with my friends last Saturday. When we were playing on the beach, suddenly, the water started to go away. We heard people shouting. They were telling us to run away from the beach. A big wave was coming towards us. We ran up the hill as fast as possible. When I looked back, the whole beach and all the buildings below us were in water. Many boats were damaged.
After the tidal wave passed, the police checked to see if everyone was OK and warned us to stay away from the beach for a few days. They told us that there was an earthquake a few kilometres away under the sea, and it caused the tidal wave. Luckily, no one was hurt or killed. All of us were happy that we were safe.
Introduce when and
what happened.
Describe what people did after the emergency/disaster
and their feelings.
What caused the tidal wave

The day the earth shook
Last Sunday, I watched a film at home with my family. Suddenly, my mum saw the ceiling lights moving and wonder if it was the wind. But the windows were closed. Then, we felt the sofa shake a little. Dad shouted, “It must be an earthquake!” I was scared, and Dad told we to cover our heads and get out of the house. We quickly put on our shoe and ran down the stairs as fast as we could. We saw some of our neighbours running down too. Once we was outside, Dad said we should stay in an open space in case there were more earthquakes. My parents checked their phones for news, and it turned out there was a small earthquake in a nearby province. We stayed outside for a while, just in case there were more shakes. Even though it was scary at first, we were glad it was just a small earthquake and that everyone was safe.
