The rule: We use the past continuous tense to talk about things that were happening at a particular time in the past.
结构 was/were + doing(verb-ing) 肯定 I/He/She/It was + doing We/You/They were + doing 否定 I/He/She/It was not + doing We/You/They were not + doing 一般疑问句和简略回答 Was I doing ... Yes, you were. No, you were not.

“一边… 一边” 的伴随关系

“同一时间段内持续进行”
突出动作的 “伴随性” 。

警察赶到的时候正在下雨。
下雨的持续动作,被 “警察赶到” 的短暂动作打断。
when和as引导的时间状语从句中的谓语动词既可以是延续性的,也可以是瞬间性的;while引导的时间状语从句中的谓语动词只能是延续性的。

as 主从句均为延续性动作 强调 “动作同时并行”
while 后接延续性动作(常配进行时) 强调 “动作在同一时段持续伴随”
