一、副词的定义
1. 副词是指在句子中表示行为或状态特征的词, 用以修饰动词、形容词、副词或修饰整个句子,充当状语成分。修饰动词时,通常放在动词之后;修饰形容词或副词,放在形容词或副词前;修饰整个句子时,通常放在句首或句末。
如:He sings well.
The food is really good.
He did very well in the exam.

A Adverbs
We can use adverbs to talk about how something happens or is done. 我们用副词来谈论某事如何发生或如何完成的。
We usually put the adverb ______ the main verb or the object.

如much, little, late, early, fast, hard, high, far 等。

4. Don’t come here late. (adv.)
另外,还有个别形容词,其相应的副词拼写完全不同,如good和well。如:
He speaks good English. 他讲一口很好的英语。
He speaks English well. 他英语讲得很好。

To form comparative and superlative adverbs ending in -ly, we add ______ and ______ before them.
For adverbs that do not end in -ly and have the same form as the adjectives, we often add _____ and _____ to them.

How to form comparative and superlative of adverbs
Attention 注意
We use far → farther→ farthest to talk about actual distance but far→ further→ furthest when we talk about how much progress someone makes or how much effect something has.
我们使用 far → farther → farthest 来谈论实际距离,但在谈论某人的进步程度或某事物的影响程度时,则使用 far → further → furthest。
四、副词的比较级和最高级的构成
1 单音节词和少数双音节词一般在词尾加-er或-est。如:
hard — harder — hardest; fast — faster — fastest
2 以字母e结尾的副词,直接加-r或-st。如:
late — later — latest
3 以“辅音字母+y”结尾的双音节词,先改“y”为“i”,再加-er或-est。 如: early — earlier — earliest
4 凡由形容词后加-ly构成的副词,前加more或 most。如:
beautifully — more beautifully — most beautifully;
clearly — more clearly — most clearly
5 不规则变化:well — better — best; badly — worse — worst;
little — less — least; much — more — most;
far — farther / further — farthest / furthest
