◆结构:
was / were + v.+ing
◆含义:
动词的过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或某一时
间段内正在进行或发生的动作。
昨天上午10点钟小明和小鹏在公园踢足球。
My sister was reading at home at 10 o'clock yesterday morning.
Yesterday morning at 10 o'clock, Xiaoming and Xiaopeng were playing football in the park.
昨天上午10点钟我妹妹在家看书。

肯定式：主语 + was/were + 动词-ing

when/while 引导的句子
While I was doing my homework, the ground started to shake.
常见时间状语：
when和while与过去进行时
when所引导的时间状语既可以指时间点，也可以指时间段;
因此，在when引导的时间状语从句中，动词可以是短暂性动词，
也可以是延续性动词；
I saw a bird when I opened the window.
（我开窗的时候看到了一只鸟。→ open 是短暂动作，强调 “开窗这个瞬间” 看到鸟。）
The phone rang when I was cooking dinner.
（我做晚饭的时候电话响了。→cook 是延续性动作，强调做晚饭过程中，电话响了。）
When he came in, we were talking.
（他进来的时候，我们正在聊天。→ come 是短暂动作，talking 是持续性动作）
而在while引导的时间状语从句中，动词必须是延续性动词。
While I was walking to school, I met my friend.
（我步行去学校的路上遇到了朋友。→ walk 是延续性动词）

when可以替换while
He had just finished his homework when the power went out.
（他刚写完作业，就停电了。）
When I feel tired, I drink a cup of tea.
（每当我累了，就喝一杯茶。）
when可以表示 “就在这时”的意思
这是 when 的特殊用法，while 不可替代。
I was about to leave the house when it began to rain heavily.
（我正要出门，突然下起了大雨。）
表示 “每当……”的意思（是一种习惯 / 经常性动作）
表示 “两个动作同时进行”。常与进行时连用，强调 “时间段内同步动作”
While my mother was cleaning the room, my father was reading a newspaper.
（妈妈打扫房间的时候，爸爸在看报纸。→ 两个延续性动作同时进行）
Some people waste food while others don’t have enough to eat.
（有些人浪费食物，而另一些人却吃不饱。）
While I like coffee, my sister prefers tea.
（我喜欢咖啡，而我妹妹更喜欢茶。）
While she was walking in the park, she saw a little dog.
While walking in the park，...... 在公园散步时，她看到了一只小狗。
表示 “对比”，侧重 “两种情况对比”。这是 when 没有的用法。
省略主语（while后面直接带动词ing）
