Eiffel Tower Tour by the Lift
Standing tall at 1,063 feet, the Eiffel Tower is an iconic landmark in Paris. Being a popular tourist destination, thousands of people come to explore the beauty of the Eiffel Tower every day.
The day of your visit
Each e - ticket bears the name of its owner. Remember to bring ID for all of your group, including children. We may ask to see your ID, as well as any supporting documents for reduced rates(disability registration).
Make sure you check the time on your e - ticket. This is the time when you need to be on the esplanade, in a queue for “visitors with tickets”. We recommend arriving 15 minutes in advance so that you have time to make it through the security checks at the entrance.
Eiffel tower ticket prices
Ticket with lift — Second floor Adults Youths (aged 12-24) Children (aged 4-11) Children (under 4)
18.80? 9.40? 4.70? 0.00?

Stan Lee was born in 1922. When he was just 17, he got a job at a company that made comic books. Although the salary was low and the work was boring, Mr Lee got tired of it. Most superheroes were strong and smart and always knew the right thing to do. Mr Lee wanted to have a chance to create new superheroes that had weaknesses. Mr Lee didn't create the heroes by himself. He worked with artists to come up with the ideas. Some people thought the comic books would not sell well and that the readers would be unhappy to see superheroes lead a normal life.
Mr Lee was able to create characters that were different from anything that had been seen in comic books before. The Incredible Hulk was a really nice guy until he got angry. Spider-Man was never sure he was doing the right thing, but he always seemed to have something funny to say to the bad guys. Mr Lee made it okay for comic book heroes to be like common people. He also had the clever idea of having his comic book heroes appear in each other's stories. For example, Spider-Man might show up in Fantastic Four story. This made readers feel shocked. He also brought them into the real world. Batman and Superman lived in made-up cities. But Mr Lee decided that Peter Parker (who turns into Spider-Man) should live in New York City.
In 1980, Mr Lee moved to California to promote his movies. He played a small part in most of these movies, usually showing up on screen for just a few seconds to make audiences feel the superheroes really exist in their lives. He wanted to try and get his superheroes onto TV and into the movies. He didn't have too much luck at first, although The Incredible Hulk became popular TV shows. But after the success of The X-Men and Spider-Man movies in the early 2000s, movies with Marvel heroes began to be favored by millions of fans. Marvel movies have now earned over $24 billion. Mr Lee is no longer with us, but the heroes he created live on.
24. Why did Stan Lee get tired of his first job
A. The pay was poor in the job.
B. The characters in their comics were too perfect.
C. The readers didn't support his books.
D. The artists didn't cooperate with him.
25. What surprised Stan Lee's readers
A. The different kinds of super powers of superheroes.
B. The connection between different superheroes.
C. The environment the superheroes live in.
D. The common life the superheroes lead.
26. What can we infer from the last paragraph
A. Stan Lee moved to California to direct the movies.
B. Stan Lee played the leading role in his movies.
C. The Incredible Hulk was not popular at first.
D. The Marvel movies generated huge profits.
27. Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A. Stan Lee: the Marvel Superhero Creator
B. Stan Lee: the Best-Selling Author
C. Why Do People Love the Superheroes
D. Why Are Marvel Movies Popular
C
The UK is now the most overweight nation in Europe and the evidence is all around us. As a doctor, I see it daily in practice, dealing with its complications (并发症) ranging from diabetes and high blood pressure to heart disease and cancer. So what are we doing about it
Not enough is the honest answer. First, weight management services, such as mental health guidance, surgery and slimming drugs remain very limited. Also, measures taken in consulting rooms are too often centered around scaring people into action: if you don't lose weight you will have a heart attack or develop diabetes.
Scaring the individual is neither helpful nor effective. Becoming more active is beneficial for many reasons, but exercise alone is not a great way to lose weight, not least because you have to run for at least an hour to burn off a beef pie. Drugs and surgery also have their place but are not required for most overweight people. So I prefer to combine proper exercise with a diet for the best result. But which diet
Often I recommend the low-carb approach, which involves cutting back on sugary drinks and foods, and starches (淀粉) such as rice and bread. I don't believe there is anything magical about the approach but it has a number of benefits: it seems easier to follow than many other approaches, and it helps lower blood sugar levels for the ten million or so people in the UK who already have type 2 diabetes or are at high risk of developing it.
Solving the obesity (肥胖) problem involves not only supporting and encouraging the individual, but also changing public health and government policy. Efforts are being made and change is already under way.
28. How does the author illustrate his opinion in Paragraph 2
A. By explanation. B. By example.
C. By comparison. D. By assumption.
29. What are the benefits of the low-carb approach
A. It helps to reduce body weight quickly.
B. It saves patients from drugs and surgery.
C. It's effective and promotes food industry.
D. It's easy to stick to and lowers blood sugar.
30. The main purpose of the passage is ______.
A. to provide practical suggestions
B. to criticize traditional approaches
C. to present the findings of a study
D. to analyse the causes of a problem
31. What is the author's attitude to the future of solving the obesity problem
A. Critical. B. Positive. C. Uncaring. D. Uncertain.
D
Hollywood may have warned about the risks of building up relationships with artificial intelligence (AI), but one computer scientist says we may be missing a trick if we do not accept the positives that human-machine relationships have to offer.
Tony Prescott, professor of robotics at the University of Sheffield, argues that AI has an important role to play in preventing human loneliness. Just as we develop meaningful relationships with pets, and have no doubt about children playing with dolls, so we should be open to the value of AI to adults , he says.
“Human loneliness is often described as a cycle in which loneliness leads to lower self-worth, which discourages further communication with people,” Prescott writes in a new book The Psychology of Artificial Intelligence. “There may be ways in which AI companionship could help break it by strengthening feelings of self-worth and helping maintain or improve social skills. If so, relationships with AIs could support people to find companionship with human and artificial others.”
With more than a third of Americans reporting “serious loneliness”, the loneliness problem has become clear in recent years. Whether AI can, or should, be part of the solution is not a new debate. Sherry Turkle. professor of social science at MIT, has warned that forming relationships with machines could backfire (事与愿违), and lead people to have fewer secure and satisfying human relationships.
Murali Doraiswamy, professor of medicine at Duke University, said: “Right now, all the evidence points to having a close human friend as the best solution to loneliness. But until society put social connectedness on top of the list, robots are a solution for the millions of people who have no friends.”
Researchers may soon know whether people turn to AI for company. Tech firms are building chatbots to be ever more responsive to emotions. This week, OpenAI asked.
Scarlett Johansson is to be the voice of their latest chatbot, GPT-4o, to “help consumers to feel comfortable”. Johansson refused, but the chatbot came onto the market with a voice that friends and family thought was hers.
32. Why are the pets and dolls mentioned in paragraph 2
A. To show the meaningful relationship between Al and children.
B. To stress the limitations of human-AI relationships in daily life.
C. To display the potential for AI to provide similar companionship.
D. To suggest the possibility for AI to replace traditional companions.
33. What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 3 refer to
A. The continued failure of human relationships with AI.
B. The repeated use of AI and others for companionship.
C. The process of developing human self-worth and social skills.
D. The pattern of loneliness, lower self-worth and further loneliness.
34. Who expressed concern that AI companionship could weaken human connections
A. Tony Prescott. B. Sherry Turkle.
C. Murali Doraiswamy. D. Scarlett Johansson.
35. Which question does the passage mainly focus on
A. Could AI contribute to increased loneliness
