Dear Sun Meng,
In your last e-mail, you asked me how to deal with stress and worries. One good way that many students in my country find helpful is using a worry box. Let me explain how to make and use one.
Try using a worry box Make a special boxUse colourful things and pictures to make your worry box. Here is a picture of my worry-eating monster(怪兽)box! Write down your worries Take some pieces of paper and write down your worries. Rate(评价)your worries and store them in the box If you like, place each worry on a scale(等级)from 1 to 10. 1 means “a little worried” and 10 means “the most worried”. For example, today I put two worries into the box. I rated “losing my new bike” 7 and “worrying about the math exam” 4.Talk it out Make sure of making some time every day or week to talk about your worries with your parents. Together, you can find ways to deal with them.
Remember, it’s not healthy to carry worries around in your head. The worry box provides a safe place to “share” your worries. By using it, you’ll learn to deal with your worries.
Take care!
Yours,
Anna

Anger isn’t a good feeling. Anger may make us feel uncomfortable, but it’s also normal. Unluckily, many of us are used to hiding(隐藏)our feelings. A study shows that this can make a big difference to our health.
Is it better to cry or break things whenever something makes us angry The study points out that when we show our anger in this way, we can’t probably get on well with our friends or our family. The longer we keep being angry, the worse result we’ll get. So what can we do with our angry feelings in a right way
First, know what makes us angry. Anger often results from feelings of fear, disappointment and so on.
Also, pay closer attention to those everyday things that will make us angry. We may get angry in the long lines at the store. Take a step back and think that it isn’t personal. Everyone in the line has dinner to make, just like us.
One way of dealing with anger is to talk about it. The study shows that if we name our feelings, we can actually calm ourselves down and feel better. Do some controlled breathing or find some physical activities. Exercise helps with the feeling of anger.

Saying “I am sorry” means apologizing. It is not always easy to apologize to someone, but it can help make things better.
Sometimes we do things we should not do. You might fight with a friend and say bad things to her. You might break a rule at school. When you know you did something wrong, apologizing is the right thing to do.
Sometimes accidents happen. When you walk on the street, you might step on someone’s foot. It is still a good idea to apologize. You can apologize like this, “I wish that did not happen.”
Sometimes you do not start the conflict(纠纷). You might get angry and throw your classmate’s book away if he says something bad to you. You might think, “I did not start it, so I don’t have to apologize.” The student is wrong to say bad things to you, but it’s not right for you to throw his book away. You should also apologize for what you did wrong.
Apologizing when you aren’t sorry does not help much. Take some time to calm down and think about what happened. Then try apologizing. You will feel better about yourself and you will know you did the right thing. So, apology can make the world harmonious(和谐的).
13. ( ) How does the writer develop the passage
A. By giving numbers. B. By using sayings.
C. By telling stories. D. By giving examples.
14. ( ) You don’t have to apologize when .

Have you ever tried to hide(隐藏)your emotions from someone during a conversation 17.
“Scientists from the Ohio State University have found that people are able to know other people’s emotions according to changes in the colour of their faces,” The Guardian reported. They studied pictures of people’s facial expressions. They found that every facial expression has a different colour pattern(模式).
For example, happiness makes our faces red around the cheeks and the temples and a little blue around the chin. 18.
“We believe these colour patterns result from small changes in the blood flow(血液流动),” scientist Aleix Martinez told The Guardian.
But this brings the question: Is it just the colour, or also facial expressions, that help people tell others’ emotions
To find this out, scientists added colour patterns to pictures of faces that showed no facial expressions. 19. Those people were able to tell the emotions right 75 percent of the time.
This may explain why there are some Chinese sayings about emotions and the colour of one’s face. For example, when two people are fighting about something, we say they are mian hong er chi. 20.
A. When a person is very angry, we say he or she is lian se fa qing.B. Hate creates a blue-yellow colour around the lips and a red-green colour around the nose and the forehead. C. Lots of people do this so that others can’t tell how they really feel.D. It’s not always easy because the colours on your face may tell the truth.E. They asked some people to tell what emotions the faces were showing.
