应用文范文:
Dear Tom,
I was delighted to receive your letter and learn that you are in charge of your class’s New Year Gala. Here are some suggestions that might be helpful.
To make the event truly engaging, you could start by organizing a talent show segment where classmates can showcase their skills, such as singing or dancing. This not only encourages broad participation but also highlights individual creativity. Additionally, incorporating some interactive group games, like team quizzes about the past year, would be a great way to foster teamwork and shared laughter, naturally bringing everyone closer together. With thoughtful planning, the evening is sure to be lively and inclusive.
I am confident your efforts will make the party a great success. Wishing you and your class a fantastic celebration and a happy New Year ahead!
Best regards,
Li Hua
读后续写范文:
Tom patted my shoulder gently, his eyes full of trust. “You’re more capable than you think, David. I’ve seen you practice shooting again and again, and your shots are always precise. The team needs you, and we all believe in you,” he said firmly. His words echoed in my ears, calming my trembling heart. I took a deep breath, raised my head, and looked at my teammates. Their eyes were filled with expectation. “Okay, I’ll try,” I said, my voice much steadier. A cheer broke out among the team. For the next week, we practiced harder than ever. Tom sat on the sidelines, guiding me on how to avoid the opponent’s defense and seize shooting chances. With everyone’s support, my confidence grew little by little.
When the final whistle (哨音) blew, I stood still in shock. We won! The score was 2-1, and I had scored the winning goal in the last minute. My teammates rushed towards me, lifting me up and cheering loudly. Tom hobbled over with a big smile, clapping his hands hard. “I knew you could do it!” he said. Tears of joy welled up in my eyes. I finally understood that courage doesn’t mean being fearless, but daring to try despite fear. It was the trust from Tom and my teammates that gave me the strength to break through myself. This match not only brought us victory but also made me realize the power of teamwork and trust.

Text 10
W: Have you ever heard of a man named Buckminster Fuller He was not just a brilliant scientist and inventor, but also an architect whose ideas ahead of his time still inspire us today. What made Buckminster truly well-known was his deep concern for human survival. When you have a shortage of resources, he said, you get war. Thus, he claimed that to solve humans’ major problems, we have to anticipate what will become problems as resources reduce.
He was especially passionate about developing more efficient housing. His goal was to create a new way oconstructing buildings that could provide more livable space while using far fewer materials, energy, and resources. One solution he came up with in the late 1940s was a structure shaped like a piece of the globe, which amazed the world and brought him international reputation.
That's it for today's Daily Takeaway. Tomorrow we'll introduce one of the most influential lecturers in Oxford University, whose ideas have shaped countless minds in academia and beyond.荆州中学2025~2026学年高二上学期12月月考

This summer, I was invited to take part in post-dubbing (后期配音), which involves adding extra voice work to enhance the sound quality of certain scenes, for the Chinese WWII epic (史诗), Dongji Rescue. It tells the story of 384 British prisoners rescued by brave Chinese fishermen after the Japanese army had locked hundreds more soldiers in the sinking warship, Lisbon Maru.
As a British national, my job was to project my best 1940s British soldier’s voice, shouting, screaming, grunting and giving commands as various survivors during the daring rescue.
Joining a team of fellow Western actors, we watched the film’s dramatic scenes on a large screen as several microphones recorded our words and actions in a recording studio. Reading lines alone was scary, as I was keen to maintain clarity while also expressing the intense emotions of the scene as realistically as possible.
The most enjoyable part was working as a group, with each person performing different lines, often overlapping (重叠) to create the chaos (混乱) and confusion of the intense survival scenes featuring hundreds of soldiers. This was where we could really play with different tones and emotions to create a number of believable and dramatic voices, trying to live up to the excellent onscreen work of the cast and crew.
Even though our contribution to the picture was small, there was a noticeable level of team spirit and seriousness. We appreciated the gravity of the historical event and the respect it had clearly been given in the film. The work required accurate timing to match the actors’ lip movements and fit with the actors’ gestures, and even though I only did one day in the studio, it was tiring work, leaving my voice rough and hurting.
Since the event, I’ve kept in touch with a number of the actors. This experience shows that it’s always worth stepping outside your comfort zone to explore new creative opportunities. And it was pretty fun to see my name in the credits, too!
24. What was the author’s main responsibility in the post-dubbing
A. Reading lines alone with strong emotions.
B. Improving overall sound quality of the film.
C. Voicing various British soldier characters.
D. Directing other Western actors’ performances.
25. What made the group work the most pleasurable for the author
A. Watching scenes together. B. Avoiding overlapping lines.
C. Presenting soldiers’ survival chaos. D. Adjusting tones to create vivid voices.
26. What did the author think of the job
A. Worthwhile and effortless. B. Rewarding and demanding.
C. Innovative and challenging. D. Easy and enjoyable.
27. What does the author’s story mainly show
A. He who dares wins. B. Practice makes perfect.
C. Many hands make light work. D. Every cloud has a silver lining.
C
Do you ever talk to yourself Although it’s not always a conscious habit, most of us practice self-talk on a daily basis, as a way of guiding, motivating or supporting ourselves.
Over the years, research has shown that self-talk can increase productivity, motivation and confidence, and even help manage feelings. “There is solid evidence that self-talk strategies improve learning and performance,” according to sport psychologist Antonis Hatzigeorgiadis, who studies the phenomenon of self-talk.
He explains that there are generally three reasons why we practice self-talk: to instruct, to motivate or to evaluate. Instructional self-talk happens when we need to guide ourselves through a specific task, such as learning a new skill. Motivational self-talk usually is used when we want to prepare ourselves for something challenging; it can help to increase confidence. Evaluative self-talk mostly is related to past events or actions.
Hatzigeorgiadis stresses that if we want to use such self-talk to good advantage, it needs to be short, precise and, most of all, consistent. Of course, self-talk also can be ineffective and even detrimental if it’s not done right.
“It is a matter of personal preference or what works for each person; but generally, it is advised that self - talk be positively rather than negatively phrased and focus on what you should do rather than on what you should avoid,” Hatzigeorgiadis says. So, for example, it would be better to say “stay cool” instead of “don’t get upset”. Although both instructions convey the same meaning, you should use positive words rather than negative ones. In this way you can avoid ill results.
Another thing that can make a difference when practicing self-talk is the way you address yourself. According to research published in Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, using “you” rather than “I” when talking to yourself tends to be more effective. The researchers explain that when you think of yourself as another person, it allows you to give more objective and useful feedback.
28. What does the research say about self-talk
A. It is always an unconscious behavior. B. It is a daily habit for everyone.
C. It may help strengthen memory. D. It can make people feel better.
29. What can be concluded from Hatzigeorgiadis’ explanation
A. Self-talk occurs in different situations. B. Self-talk usually makes one brave.
C. Self-talk arises with various feelings. D. Self-talk only works when learning a new skill.
30. What does the underlined word “detrimental” in paragraph 4 probably mean
A. Confusing. B. Useless. C. Harmful. D. Unbearable.
31. What can be a suitable title for the text
A. Self-talk: a close relation to the past. B. Self-talk: a great way to avoid ill results.
C. Self-talk: a useful tool to benefit our life. D. Self-talk: a matter of personal preference.
D
You might have heard that penguins marry for life. The tiny birds, found in Australia and New Zealand, leave their partners if they’re not content with how many chickens they’re producing. Now, researchers have found that the number of break-ups affects the species’ reproductive success more than other factors.
Little blue penguins are the world’s smallest species of penguins, growing to an average of just 12 inches high. Phillip Island, southwest of Melbourne, is home to around 30,000 of these tiny birds. “It has the world’s most little penguins,” says Richard Reina, a biologist at Monash University and coauthor of the new study published in Ecology and Evolution.
After a day of looking for food at sea, the tiny birds return to their place on the hillside. Some of them live in special nesting boxes and are micro-chipped (微芯片), so scientists can easily gather information. During the breeding (繁殖) season—September to February—researchers record which birds are paired in nesting boxes or “married”, when they lay eggs and when the eggs hatch as well as the chickens’ growth and survival rates. They also note if any pairs separate or break up.
Reina and his coworkers examined penguin break up rates over 13 breeding seasons. On average, around one in four pairs found new partners each year but the break up rate in one year could be as low as one in twenty or as high as one in three. “This high variability of break-up rates was fairly surprising,” says Reina. Years with a higher break-up rate were strongly correlated with lower breeding success. The break-up rate was also more reliable for predicting future breeding success than environmental or behavioral factors, like sea surface temperature or habits for seeking food.
Understanding the factors that influence breeding is essential for assessing penguins’ long-term survival and taking some protective measures. Experts could potentially predict how successful upcoming breeding seasons will be based on penguin break-up rates. This is particularly important as human activities continue to impact the ocean.
32. What does the new study focus on
A. The family structure of penguins. B. Impacts of penguin break-ups.
C. The reason for penguin marriage. D. Changes in penguin break-up rates.
33. What is the scientists’ purpose of attaching microchips to the penguins
A. To track food. B. To protect the eggs.
C. To collect data. D. To record the climate.
34. What did Reina think of the break-up rates of penguins
A. It was inspiring. B. It was frightening.
C. It was understandable. D. It was unexpected.
35. Why is the study important for conservation efforts
A. It helps predict penguins’ breeding success rate.
B. It measures the effect of human activities.
C. It leads to finding the best nesting boxes.
D. It shows penguins’ good adaptation.

I have a drawer full of letters to Santa. Each year my children would write up their Christmas wish lists. They were polite requests for the latest game or toy. As the children got older, they would give Santa some hints on where to buy their presents. ____36____
Those letters taught my children a valuable lesson about writing: It has a purpose. Sometimes our purpose is to achieve something;other times it may be to entertain, inform, or persuade. ____37____ And when writing doesn’t seem to have any purpose or get any kind of meaningful response, then it can be hard to get excited about doing it.

____39____ Texting, online messaging, live chats while playing video games all mean that they are constantly producing written messages. However, because they are usually writing to family and friends, they use informal language most of the time.
There is nothing wrong with this kind of writing. It suits the audience and the purpose and gets the job done. ____40____ This type of writing won’t be rewarded by the school examiner, nor by a future employer or a potential client. Our school’s soccer match was just a week away, and our class team was in trouble. We’d practiced every afternoon for a month, running drills and practicing teamwork, but our star forward (前锋) Tom had hurt his knee in last week’s practice. The doctor said he’d need to rest for at least a month. Without him, we had no one who could consistently score goals. After practice yesterday, everyone sat silently on the soccer field, worried we’d lose the first match against Class 5, the defending champions.
“I can’t believe this,” said our captain, Leo, kicking a stone on the ground. “Tom was our best player. He scored 8 goals last season. How can we win without him ”
No one said anything. I looked around at my teammates: some stared at their shoes, others shook their heads. I’d always played defense (防守) as a training partner, staying back to block the other team’s shots, but I’d secretly practiced shoot in my backyard every weekend. My dad had even set up a small goal for me. Maybe I could try playing forward But my hands started sweating at the thought. I’d never scored a goal in a real match. What if I messed up, missed the net, and let the whole team down
Just then, Tom walked slowly with his crutches (拐杖), his knee wrapped in a thick bandage. “Hey, guys,” he said, forcing a smile. “Don’t look so down. You’re a great team. You just need to believe in yourselves.” Leo sighed and stood up. “But we don’t have a forward, Tom. Who’s going to score when the match starts ”
Tom’s eyes scanned the team, stopping on me. “David, I’ve seen you stay late to practice shooting after every practice. Your shots are strong and exact. Why don’t you try playing forward ”
My heart raced, and I felt my face get hot. “Me I... I don’t know if I can,” I said, my voice shaking so much that I could barely hear myself.
