Hi! My name is Adam and I'm a freshman at a senior high school. Going from junior high school to senior high school is a really big challenge. The first week was a little confusing.

Confused
First, I had to think very carefully about which courses I wanted to take. The school adviser helped me choose the suitable ones: maths, English, chemistry, world history, and Chinese. I know that Chinese is a very difficult language, but I hope to be fluent when I graduate. My adviser recommended that I should sign up for advanced literature because I like English and I’m good at it.

I had to choose extra-curricular activities, too. I tried to join the school football team, but the coach told me that I didn’t play well enough. Obviously, I was unhappy, but I won’t quit. I’ll find a way to improve on my own so that I can make the team next year. I joined a volunteer club instead. Every Wednesday, we work at a soup kitchen and hand out food to homeless people in the community.

注意:
1.介词后不能直接接that引导的宾语从句,如果要接,需要用 it 作介词的
形式宾语,再接that引导的宾语从句;
2.what、which、whom等连接词引导的宾语从句可直接放在介词后面。
3. 介词后可接whether引导的宾语从句,但不接由if引导的宾语从句。
句中的介词about后接which引导的宾语从句,which courses在从句中作宾语。

这些词后跟虚拟语气的从句,即谓语动词用“(should) + 动词原形”

2.Tom insisted Mike (should) apologize to his teacher, but Mike insisted that he was not wrong at all.
suggest表 “表明,暗示”时不用虚拟语气
insist表“坚持认为” 时不用虚拟语气

so that 引导结果状语从句时, 主从句之间可用逗号隔开。
eg: The room was packed with people, so that we couldn’t get in.

As a freshman , I felt excited but nervous about senior high school. Frankly , the workload was a challenge with many advanced assignments . I felt confused about balancing studies and activities initially. Gradually , I improved my routine by making a schedule. I joined clubs to be more outgoing and meet amazing classmates. Instead of stress, I now feel confident and keep calm . My goal is to enjoy teenage life while taking responsibility for my growth!
