I’m writing to tell you about my special summer vacation experience.
With the help of my teacher, I got the opportunity to work as an intern in an international trade company. I spent about two months there and experienced the nervousness, the excitement and the pleasure of working.
I started with answering phone calls at the front desk. At first, I took it as a simple job, but soon I realized that, to be a qualified receptionist, I must know well of the company and always be ready to answer questions. Fortunately, I am a quick learner and made great progress in a week. I also helped my colleagues send faxes, photocopy some documents and even type out some reports. When I got familiar with these tasks, I moved on to the After-sales Service Department where I spent the following two weeks sitting in front of a computer to deal with e-mails complaining about our products. I was timid and nervous at first and worried that I couldn’t handle the complaints. However, the supervisor of the department told me that I had done a good job. You can’t imagine how happy I was when I heard what she said!

All in all, I think I have learned a lot of precious things during the internship, especially the things I can’t learn from books. Now I know the importance of being a team player. I also realize how important it is to have a positive attitude toward work. And lastly, my oral English is still not good enough. I need to work harder at it.

Today I went to the city library to do volunteer work with my classmates.
At 9 o’clock in the morning, we gathered together at the gate of the

to help readers borrow or return books. After that, we went to our own working area. Of course, all of us wore the volunteer uniform and the volunteer ID card.
